Ask Vader. I am pretty sure he has one. I think he used a pic of it as his avatar.

Tattoos seem very popular right now. But I have to think that when all of these 20-somethings hit 50, they'll be pretty anxious to get rid of them.

You can always regret getting a tatoo.

But you can never not regret not getting a tatoo.

About tattoos....

The best spots for a small insignia or design are either the front or back of the shoulder in a direct line with the AC joint. If you're going for a band-type design then around the arm or leg is better. Those are the two spots traditionally done by cultures that use tattoos for identification; granted, no one goes around shirtless in public in America but it'd be keeping a nice continuation of human history.

Just keep in mind that the more visible it is, the more likely that unfamiliar people (i.e. someone interviewing you for a job) will see it and automatically be repulsed by it. I won't get into that whole "They shouldn't judge" discussion either.

If you're set on this and are scrounging for designs, take a look at what the championship rings have looked like....I know someone who had his conference and national championship ring designs side-by-side in ink and it didn't turn out too bad. And in 50 years, no matter what happens to the rings themselves, he'll still remember where he played and what they did.

My suggestion: If you can't spell tattoo, don't get one.
ATH was talking about getting one of those little people that played on the 80's TV show Fantasy Island. I think he forgot to capitilize the proper name "Tatoo".

I have always wondered why people in the states get tattoos in chinese writings. Do they really know what writing really means. I mean it could be "dork" or "idiot" in chinese and these people would have no clue. I saw news program that some tattoo artists really do that as a joke.

Do chinese get tattoos written in english in their homeland? If i were the tattoo artist i would write some obscure word like "chair" or "table" on their arm and tell them it means something spiritually and they would wear that with pride.

brg72,

A friend of mine was from mainland China who took great joy in telling non-Chinese folks with those tattoos that it meant something either meaningless or perverted. He stood behind someone once (next to me) who had four characters on his arm, and goes "Can you believe that someone would tattoo on their arm that they fornicate with male goats?" The guy turned around, saw him, and went "Aw crap."

He wouldn't tell me if he was messing with the guy or not. It was pretty funny nonetheless, but he said that if I wanted to know what it meant that I would have to learn the language and become literate in it. And let's be honest, it's not easy for someone at age 18 (ah, to be 18 again....) to try to learn and become literate in a language as intricate as Chinese. Throw in the fact that his native tongue wasn't Mandarin or Cantonese, it was some regional and fairly obscure dialect.

Got the Power T on my left calf almost 3 years ago. No regrets.

I have people here in Texas assume it is for that "other" UT. I am quick to correct. I have been pleased with how well the color has maintained.
