UT vs. Arkansas

Close game throughout, but I think the Vols stretch it out late and win by 8 or 9.

This is going to be a tough game. We got beat to death at Florida, the team is probably tired and sore.

Pearl said that they aren't as prepared for Arkansas as they would like to be because they have only had a couple of "light practices" due to the UF game.

Brewer and Modica are both very capable guards and Brewer is a top defender in the SEC. This will most likely mean we won't see much of Lofton tomorrow.

They have two big guys. One is 7 feet tall while the other is 6' 10. So things will be hard to get in the post as well.

A win at Tennessee would send them to the tourney and it goes on and on.

I hope I'm wrong, but this looks like a very tough game for the Vols. Let's just hope they can play with as much intensity as they have all year and let's also hope that they can get Lofton open. We're going to need him again.

Florida's Brewer shut Lofton down for the most part as well... but Lofton made the most of the time he was free of Corey, draining those three huge 3's before half. Maybe they can work it to where Lofton can get the ball in space while Ronnie is on the bench.

I think that we have two clear advantages in this game...

1. Obviously, it's at home and we're pretty solid at home. Undefeated this season to be exact.

2. This is the first time that Arkansas has played us this season. They have probably watched their tape and studied the press, but understanding it and executing against it have proven to be two seperate things this year.

So yeah, hopefully Lofton can get some of those transition 3's to hold us together. Brewer is 6'7 and Modica is 6'5, they have the size to cause problems for Chris in half-court play.

I really do like our chances.

This is the same Arkansas team that lost at Ole Miss, anyway.

It's also the same Arkansas team that beat Florida and Bama and has lost all its games by a total of 11 points. We should take care of them, but it has all the trademarks of being one of those games.

I'm thinking we should be able to handle the Hogs at home, however, the Razorback faithful aren't too pleased with Coach's performance since replacing the maniac Nolan. A wounded hog is very dangerous, just ask Ol' Yeller...

Yeaah, yeah... I dunno, I'm just really confident about this game. First time this year I've been this confident about the Vols' chances in a game.

Well, that was a tough game. What we all need to remember is that we have only lost 5 games this season. That's pretty amazing coming off of last year. We're going to the tourney, we still have a shot at the SEC and we have some great recruits coming in next year.

It's easy to be down about this Arkansas game, but eventually we were bound to be on the other end of a close game.

We lost this game in 3 places as far as I'm concerned....

1. The post play. Wingate should just give up, oh wait, he already has.
2. We can't get Lofton an open look to save our lives.
3. We missed some critical foul shots and we paid for it this time.

Since we have exceeded our expectations this year, I'm pretty content with what we do rest of the season win or lose.

I'll take the blame for that one, it won't happen again...

I was lookin' good... too bad college basketball isn't a 35 minute game.

good points owb, but i think u missed one. pearl had a major lapse at the end of this game. we should have never tried to run out the clock with 5 minutes left. how many times have we did that this year? we shouldnt do it anymore cuz it sucked. we should have applied more pressure to put it away.

Maybe, I just don't think that our guys had the fuel to press like they have. They looked really sluggish today. My guess would be that Pearl wasn't running the clock to run the clock. I would guess that he was trying not to run his players into the ground.

idk, i still think he was running the clock. patterson had to shoot a 3 for christs sake. we were trying to run the clock out to end it. if we needed fresh legs, we coulda put childress in, or howell more. we need rest, but we coulda waited 5 minutes and been up by 10+ with 2 minutes left.

Childress and Howell are in way over their heads against athletes like Arkansas has. Today's analysis is simple. Tha bigger, quicker, more talented team won.
