In a couple of years the BB program will be in better shape then the football program.

A louder crowd would have been nice, but it was ETSU, and it was a blowout. I'm just glad that so many people came out to TBA. It will be louder for the bigger games. As for the team, they looked a little erratic at times but are much improved. We will be taken to the woodshed now and then this year. If Lofton or Watson has a bad game, we won't win. The bottom line is that it will be an entertaining season with at least as many wins as last year and more to come in the future. Pearl did a good job subbing. He was able to put players from literally the end of the bench in the game and not really lose anything, because the pace was so fast.

I know a lot of people in here dont like hamilton, but he did a good job with this hire. I dont think our last A.D. would have done as good job, in fact we'd probably still be stuck with Buzz.

Is it true that our basketball team scored more points in this game than our football team has all year? lol

thoughts on the game:
(1) Sure, the crowd wasn't quite as noisy as it could have been, but there were 20,000 people there for a non-conference game!!! Coach Pearl and the players genuinely seemed to appreciate the support.
(2) It is sad that Stanley Asumnu has been languishing on the bench. This is a talented kid who will shine under Pearl's system. Too bad he's a senior now. He could have been an all-SEC player had he picked this sort of style of play up 2 years ago.
(3) I have mocked, abused, and derided Dane Bradshaw relentlessly in the past. Tonight I must eat crow, and it tastes good. He is clearly in much better shape, got 12 rebounds (!), an incredible number for a guard playing in the 3 spot. He still has no business ever attempting a 3-pointer, but he made things happen, had a few nice assists, and was 7-8 from the line.
(4) This team is woefully undersized, and it will cost them big-time against stiffer competition. That being said, I think this team is capable of pulling off an upset or two against a ranked opponent. But, in line with a previous post, they will get taken to the woodshed by Kentucky, perhaps Florida, et al.
(5) The new student section seating situation (say that five times fast) is a good idea.
(6) The Kiss Cam is still a bad idea.
(7) An NIT bid is not at all out of the question for this team if they continue to play hard and avoid injuries. An NCAA bid, however, would mean Bruce Pearl should win National Coach of the Year.

You are probably right about Kentucky and Florida. I believe Pearl will get every ounce of effort out of his players though and just maybe make a close game with them. I am already impressed with the players effort in the ETSU game. Remember guys, ETSU had all five returning starters from last year who went to the tournament.

I really enjoyed reading this page. I'm glad my prediction wasn't too much of an underestimation. :whistling:

No doubt. This may have been the worst game thread of all time. I posted and the whole thing died, :D
