This helps me realize that we don't have as much talent as I thought. I mean, I knew we were down, but man. Watch Cedrick Houston run. Watch these receivers get open. Watch that line block. Watch the quarterbacks perform so well. I know UNLV was horrible in 04, but we haven't looked this good in years, IMO. Butch has a HUGE hill to climb.

Also, as a side note, hey, black freshman quarterback and white freshman quarterback rotating to keep the defense on their toes. We have a couple of guys that fit that description! :whistling: (In b4 "racist, IMO")

And lastly, watch the 48:49 mark to see Fulmer talking dirty to his players.

There really was a lot of talent on that team. Seeing Fulmers record flash up on the screen at .801 winning percentage. Geez. Miss those days.

Its amazing what you can do with an SEC caliber QB. Worley is looking better but still would be a backup on most other SEC teams.

We go 11-2 that year if Ainge doesn't get injured on the last play of the 1st half against Notre Dame with our only losses being Auburn who went undefeated....The biggest discrepancy in talent from then to now is on the DL...In '04 we had size, talent and depth (Jesse Mahelona, Parys Haralson, Justin Harrell, Turk McBride, Tony McDaniel). It will take at least 3 recruiting cycles to get close to that again but Dewayne Hendrix, Derek Barnett, Charles Mosley and Devonte Lambert would be a great start....To whoever cares: John Robinson was the coach of that UNLV team in '04. I met him at the Courtyard Marriot off Parkside Dr the morning of the Cal game in '06 while having breakfast. He was working as a blogger at the time and reporting on the game. Great guy - very friendly.

Worley's got more potential than most people think, but the more I see him improve this season under the new regime the more I wonder what the hell Jim Chaney, a proven developer of talent, was doing with him. He's basically two years behind schedule in development. I think he steadily improves this season, gets his confidence on during the offseason as a proven starter, and becomes a pretty decent QB for us his senior year.
