UT vs. VU

Pearl's coat tonight was awesome. I have to put on sunglasses to look at it :shades:, but awesome nonetheless.

I think he's trying to bring back the Mears mystique. I never saw it (age thing) but didn't Mears wear an orange jacket?

Even I don't know if I'd be comfortable in that much orange but I like it!

I bet he got a good deal on that.

The amazing thing to me... he was smart/respectful enough to go and ASK coach Mears if it was ok for him to wear the Orange Blazer for the Vandy and UK series'. So look out boys, he'll have it on in Rupp on Tuesday. :biggrin2:

Thanks, Brian. How did Kentucky's football class look today?

Best Kentucky class since before probation- 34 LOIs signed. "Papaw" Brooks is building a fundamentally sound program, imo. Scout listed it as the 32nd best class.

We were able to sign a 5-star kid for D-Line (Micah Johnson), and 2 more in-state 4-star studs that will bolster the 3-4 package.

Picked up several kids out from under Spurrier's nose in South Carolina. Our OC, Joker Phillips, has very good inroads there. Also a couple of Georgia kids.

Michael Hartline is a 6-6 QB from Canton, OH who turned down offers from several Big 10 schools. Randy Sanders is very excited about him.

We even signed some kicker from Knoxville. ;)

Kentucky will probably never sign all the 5-star stud recruits that the perennial powers have, but I'm pleased with this class, and they should do well if we can get them on campus.

That was a fun game, great crowd and Pearl looked sharp in his orange blazer that he wore on behalf of Coach Mears.

I will say this.... I do sincerely think that Brooks' Kitties could be bowl-bound next year, if only for the fact that they play in the brutal SEC East. Florida and Georgia are loaded, Spurrier's getting it rolling at SC, and UT SURELY HAS TO IMPROVE on 5-6. The only team that realistically won't be better is Vandy minus Cutler.

I think the jury's still out on Spurrier and the Gamecocks. He certainly didn't make the splash that Urban Meyer did in his first year at Florida.

About Vandy: I will tell you that I wouln't want to be a Vanderbilt player when the Vols roll into Nashville next season. It's going to be a "hell to pay" sort of revenge. :devilsmoke:

As far as UK, they will win three of their non-conference games (Texas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Central Michigan) and and Vanderbilt. They will probably beat Mississippi State, too. That just leaves one game to win. Most likely 6th win comes from Ole Miss, Louisville, possibly South Carolina. The cats can forget about winning against Georgia, Florida, probably Tennessee, but we'll have to see how the Vols rebound this fall.

I don't know how much of an actual splash Meyer made in terms of improvement. Sure, he came in with alot of hype, and has reeled in a great recruiting class. His record really wasn't much of an improvement over previous years, though.

Yes, he beat UT, UGA, and FSU. Zook did that, too. ot all in the same year, but he did beat UT and UGA in his first year.

If they are truly improved, we should see that this year.
