Pretty good piece by Nooga.com's Daniel Lewis:

Tennessee’s 5-7 campaign came to an end at Kentucky a couple weeks ago. Now that we’ve had a little time to digest the season, here’s a position-by-position look at how the Vols performed on the field this year:

C- Coaching? It wasn't great but, it wasn't that bad. I'd give it a B- or C+

The Vandy game killed that grade. That was the only game I expected a W and we didn't get it. The coaching and scheme in that game was a F on offense. I mean how the crap as a senior after what happened in 2012 do you come out and play so bad as an offensive group? Our o-line was abused all game. I was embarrassed to be a UT Vol that night, and it's probably one of the most disappointed moments for me as a Vol fan in my whole life. Unacceptable, truly unacceptable.

You expected us to lose to UK, USA, WKU and AP???

Pretty fair write up.

I would be a little tougher on the QB position and give them an F.

The North and Croom catches helped make this season look a little better than it actually was and both were complete luck. Everyone that is giving Worley a pass for being injured seems to forget he was benched in favor of Peterman. He played horribly to start the season.

Same goes for the O line. It was supposed to be a strength and didn't really step up at any point. C-.

C- seems fair on coaching. There wasn't anything that stood out in this season as an above average coaching job to me. The units that were supposed to be good were OK(RB, O Line, K) and the units that sucked continued to suck(QB, secondary, DL).

If this season were broken down into semesters, the first semester would probably be a B- while the second would be an F. I don't care about the level of competition, they didn't even bother showing up the last half of the season.

Of course you would because your expectations are ridiculous.
Really.... winning 6 games and going to bowl was mine.Just Like all the coaches and players. ..Letting florida try to hand us a Win and pulling the Only QB we won with ,and getting beat at home by Vandy was hard to swallow. Whats your expectations sunshine?

So, 6-6 and a bowl would have been an "A" for you since that was your expectation. Butch fell one game short of that and he's a D-?? You need to re-think your grading system.

did I say that would be an A from Me? Damn your a clown. You said my expectations where high. You can spin it how ever you like but don't put words in my mouth . It was what it was. we struggled when we shouldn't have and won 1 game that should have been a tuff game (SC) I would have given them a D- this season and James Franklin an A+ ...how you like that? What did Jones do that he shouldn't have? Where did he out coach anyone? What games did you see where we fooled anyone? (Palardy on 4th and 21? lmao)

I'm a clown.....ok bro. Sounds like you expected 6-6, and if Butch had achieved that, your grade would be something like C or C-. All that shows me is that you never thought Butch could do anything in his first year in the first place so you're just exposing your bias.

As far as what did Jones do that he shouldn't have? Well, beating USCjr, who was ranked #12 at the time I believe is a good start. The Vandy game baffles me and I thought was a poor job of coaching. However, given the losing culture of the program right now, the lack of quality depth, freshman playing everywhere, I think he did a pretty good job against one of the toughest schedules I've ever seen. We played 7 top 10 teams...7! That's why giving him a D- is simply absurd.

first off I'm not your Bro... 2nd Your a clown. 3rd stop going around and questioning every body that post opinion. 4th Dooley would have gotten a F for the same 5-7! A D- is about right sunshine!

P.S. I to be Honest Like other didn't feel Like Jones Deserved this Job when he got it, I how ever Like what he did with the VFL's and in Recruiting. Staff wise I wasn't happy at all with his choice for OC and DC . I do how ever live and breath UT football and refuse to accept 5-7, 6-6 or even 7-5 !

Posters like yourself love to ignorantly declare what they will or will not accept while completely dismissing the circumstances that Butch walked into. Oh well, I gave it my best shot....carry on with your ignorance.
