This game has been insane. Midway through the 2nd quarter, BYU has had the ball for less than 2 minutes, and yet they are leading 14-10.

Utah State’s offensive line is dominating, but turnovers and penalties are killing them.

There’s been a penalty after almost every play as well.

Another 3 & out for BYU. That’s either their 3rd or 4th. They scored a TD in 2 plays on their first drive and also had a pick 6. Other than that, they have done absolutely nothing.

Tied at 17 at halftime. BYU finally got a drive longer than 3 plays. But they still have -22 yards rushing. Penalties continue to haunt Utah State.

One penalty was weird. The Utah State WR ran out of bounds, then ran back in bounds. He caught a pass, but the ref ruled the pass incomplete because his foot was out of bounds (once again) when he caught the ball deep in the end zone. Then, they call a penalty for illegal touching.

My question is, how can illegal touching be called when the pass is ruled incomplete because the receiver was already out of bounds? Doesn’t that mean every time a receiver catches a ball out of bounds, the ref would have to call illegal touching?

BYU scores a TD on a great drive to start the 3rd quarter, then failed to recover an onside kick. Let’s see what Utah St does here
