They probably have, with the possible exception of UCONN, the most depth of talent in the country. I think their inexperience will be a problem in the tournament, but they won't fail for lack of personnel.(tidwell @ Mar 11 said:Memphis is ridiculous. One of the broadcasters read off the height of all their players, and I think the shortest guy was 6'6'' or 6'7''.
Hman, I not sure what you are referring to. Is this the thread you are posting about?(hmanvolfan @ Mar 11 said:This talkin' about Memphis thread surely won't last long! Somebody put up one about DeAngelo Williams being a cool guy and it lasted about an hour until some moderator deleted it. But since it's still here, hat is right on in his assesment. They have a boatload of talent 2 teams deep but they're all freshmen. That youth and inexperience may be the achilles heel.
(bigtime @ Mar 11 said:iv defently got memphis to win the turny
but we should do ok
i totally agree with wat u guys are sayin about us needin size give us a guy like aldrige down in texas and we have the sec won and a possible ncaa tunry win

(oklavol @ Mar 11 said:The interesting thing about Memphis, a lot of the talent in the state is in that city, its a big pool for Pearl to recruit from. I think this is one of the reasons UT can get national prominence in basketball. A lot more talent at BB then FB plus you only need a handful of players in BB where in football your trying to recruit a couple of dozen top players.
I used to pull for memphis, being the only other school in the state that had a talented bb program outside of UT and Vandy (?).
North Carolina had a lottery pick at point guard.(Lexvol @ Mar 11 said:It is true. But there is irony in the results of the tourney so far. The teams with athletic big men are dominating this year, and teams like UT and UK are clamouring for the athletic big men, but usually all you hear about is how important guard play is in tourney time. Maybe NC put all that to rest last year.
And a first round pick at the 2.(Lexvol @ Mar 11 said:It is true. But there is irony in the results of the tourney so far. Given that the point is far more important than the wing, if he were the best option he would be playing the point.(hvwarrior58 @ Mar 12 said:No, it isn't that he won't be the best option. It is just that we have no depth whatsoever at the 3 with Passley being all but dismissed. I see Dane and Marques Johnson as our 3s now. Johnson has grown out of a PG in my opinion.
I have to agree with that. Bad point guard play can beat you by itself.(hvwarrior58 @ Mar 12 said:Not necessarily. He could be marginally better at the point than any other options but significantly better at the 3 than the other options. The lineup would also be more balanced imo with him at the 3. One position won't win the game for us, but can lose the game.
