With only 3 months prior to opening kickoff, can we expect huge changes in the offensive play calling or will we be conservative and pound, pound away at that freaking middle of the line?IMO we had numerous dead play calls last year. What's your take?

How dare you ask such questions? Are you questioning the fact that the omnipotent mini-Fulmer will turn the UT offense into a combination of the early ''80s San Diego Chargers and the 1971 Nebraska Cornhuskers? To question the all knowing Cut is pure heresy.

Despite who the offensive coordinator is, Phil still has the last call on the plays, so I fear we will see much of the same as last year.

I have a feeling this year the offense will be called upon to be the forte of the team as was the defense (for the most part) last year.

Cutcliffe already said they are going to a spread offense, he called it a "fast break offense" with 4 and 5 wr sets most of the time and a single back. Apparently, the offensive lineman and fullback, aren't as thrilled with it as Ainge and wr's are.

I seriously doubt that it's going to be anything that drastic. I'd say that it's just going to be a balanced offense this year.

Sounds like it should be potent.Just what the doc ordered.

Personally, I'd like to see the power running game return; greater use of the tightend; and of course greater use of the deep ball.

I'm just not sure our OL is up to the challenge or has the personnel to pull off the power running game this year.I'm confident with our runners, but our OL has got to keep pounding and pounding to be a true power game.Anyhing is possible though.I'm for anything that puts up the W's.

Yeah. Actuallying playing offensive football would have been an improvement last year. Instead they just went "Um, let's snap the ball a few times. Where's Colquitt?"

Also, getting some new sideline signals would be nice.

How about if we actually CATCH the deep ball this year?

What were we last year on the deep ball? 1 for 5?

I don't know, but I bet we didn't have more than 10-15 plays go for 20+ yards all season.

It would be an improvement if we could just keep the offense on the field and move the chains a little bit. I'd hate to see the stat for how many "drives" we had where we got just one first down or went 3 and out.

From what I have read, Ainge doesnt like the short throws. He supposedly had a couple of games last season where he didnt complete any passes to a RB or TE, preferring to throw it deep most of the time. They were a lot of deep passes thrown last year that were not complete, that were thrown into double coverage. This is one of the reasons Rick Clausen had better numbers and was more effective then Ainge and one of the criticisms the coaching staff has of Ainge.

There was a whole article about just that. Ainge said that the main thing he learned from watching Clausen was that it's ok to dump off to the back. So he's well aware of it and I expect to see him do it some this year instead of always trying to thread the needle.

What are you talking about? I thought our offense played some truly offensive football all season last year.

I'd probably do the same thing part way through a game... Playing and getting stopped time after time. Desperation kicks in, you look for the big plays to get you back into the game in a hurry.
