How bad is it?
Consider that Tennessee is only .04 yards from giving up the most average yards on punt returns of any team in the nation. The Vols' rank is 116 out of 117.
As one fan points out, the Vols are now No. 100 or worse in seven statistical categories among Division I schools. Here's how they rank:
Punt return yardage defense: 116
Fourth down conversions: 112
Scoring offense: 108
Net punting: 105
Passing efficiency: 104
Punt returns: 102
Rushing offense: 101
Total offense: 98
Turnovers lost: 93
Turnover margin: 91
Kickoff returns: 91
Fumbles lost: 86
Passing offense: 82
Passes had intercepted: 73
Kickoff return defense: 59
Third down conversions: 45
With that in mind, you have to wonder what the team's chances are even of beating Vanderbilt (4-6) and Kentucky (3-6).
