‘23 VA LB Tony Rojas (PSU commit)

Interesting that they say next weekend - he's said he's coming April 5, right before going to Clemson 4/6 and then SoCar 4/7.

Getting him here is what matters, but ideally he'd be here for the Volapalooza with Nico et al, and also would be great to get him here after his return visit to Clemson.

Honestly in my opinion one of the biggest needs in this class. We’re gonna do fine getting offensive guys with how good our system is, and garner is gonna get those top tier dlineman. But we gotta close on some more quality linebackers. It’s too stressful watching opposing quarterbacks scrambling for 10+ yards while our lbs are trying to keep up. And as it stands, it’s not like we have a lot of options after banks is gone.

Agree. From a quality+quantity standpoint, LB pretty clearly the weakest unit on the team right now. Really hoping they add at least one in the portal for this coming season - frankly would be negligent not to do so IMO.

LB board as I see it now:

Jeremiah Telander
Grayson Howard
CJ Allen
Grant Godfrey
James Heard
Alex Sanford
Whit Weeks
Tony Rojas
Jalen Smith
Aycen Stevens

Depth is an issue at LB for sure, but Banks is very solid and Beasley is serviceable. I think the bowl game proved that corner is the weakest unit on the team, and I’m not sure it’s even close.

No, random. My guess is Rojas is at the top. Maybe this?

Tony Rojas
CJ Allen
Jeremiah Telander
Grayson Howard
Grant Godfrey
Alex Sanford
Whit Weeks

Not sure these 3 would be takes yet:
James Heard
Jalen Smith
Aycen Stevens

Rojas has his choice of position apparently so I'm skeptical in assuming he chooses LB... hopefully he does if we get him.

Crouch doing pretty damn well at linebacker at Michigan State.
I'm referencing while here... did he have better statistics than Beasley or Banks? I also am totally assuming but it seems minus a few universities the BIG10 plays a more traditional offense.
