I'm sure Franklin is tryin to get a 6 or 7 win season to either get a raise, or to gain interest from other school. Gotta be a pain to recruit for Vandy.

Vandy notified OSU of their cancellation of this game through mail. Not email. Not a phone call. US Mail. Stay classy, Vandy.

Wait, That actually sounds a bit classier than the other two...I mean, they used a more formal format/method and they actually used the one that you have to pay for to send.

If anything it was outdated or possibly too "old-timey". It's not like they were breaking up with a girlfriend though

These are the tweets I saw about it and it sounds like typical Vandy:

Rittenberg/Bennett ‏@ESPN_BigTen

From what I've learned about Vandy-Northwestern cancellation, Vanderbilt totally unprofessional in how it went about it. Really lame.

Rittenberg/Bennett ‏@ESPN_BigTen

Just couldn't lose UMass. Would be such a tragedy. RT @country_cookin: @Jkauf55 we had to cancel either OSU or NW. CouldnÂ’t keep both

Rittenberg/Bennett ‏@ESPN_BigTen

Source tells me Vanderbilt also backed out of its 2013 game against Ohio State to open season. Informed Ohio State via U.S. mail (no call)

Rittenberg/Bennett ‏@ESPN_BigTen

Ohio State and Northwestern both now scrambling to fill 2013 dates. Stay classy, Vandy.

Rittenberg/Bennett ‏@ESPN_BigTen

Not even FedEx. Worse for Northwestern b/c already had hotel booked in Nashville RT @pmason03: Not even email? Is it 1980 at Vandy?

Rittenberg/Bennett ‏@ESPN_BigTen

Remember Vandy's pathetic moves before complaining why Big Ten and SEC teams don't play each other more often.

Aside from money, I'm not sure why Vanderbilt even wants to be in the SEC. They're never going to win an SEC championship let alone the East. If they think beating Austin Peay, UMass, UAB and Wake Forest is going to help propel them in the SEC, they're sadly mistaken.

Some people ask why UK doesn't move to the ACC, better basketball and worse football, it wouldn't happen for the same reason. UK is a founding member of the SEC and the money is too good, especially now. As a football fan I wouldn't want them to leave the SEC, they don't compete 9 out of 10 years but moving conferences is quitting and that isn't how you handle failure.

Nothing against Vandy, but thats the right move on their part. Schedule managable games for OOC. The SEC is no joke. Get what you can, where you can.

I don't see anything wrong with this. Vandy will always be Vandy and people would have laughed at them no matter who they played. Franklin is smart though and anyone that doesn't see Vanderbilt as his stepping stone is clearly blind. IMO, he'll stay another year because they couldn't back up what the media was selling.

This.

Sure it seems a bit wuss, but it's likely the only way they'll have a shot at 6 wins most years. Although it's pretty funny to say they're ducking Northwestern; even though Northwestern has built up a decent program.

But overall, this crap right here is why I think getting to a bowl now is pretty much meaningless. Getting 6 wins is not an accomplishment anymore.

Has anyone seen Mississippi State's schedule this year? OOC = 3 Sun Belt teams & Jackson State, and now they're ranked #12...

Won't make for any great match-ups, but Vandy, like MSU^, is probably doing what they feel helps them best to make a Bowl game.

We didn't try and get out of Oregon according to our officials. Their coach said we did, but that was proven false on our end.

Don't you bring facts on this board!

We tried to chicken out of OU and did chicken out on tOSU if you listen to people on here. The same people would also be ok with having a rotating schedule with BAMA in order to get an easier schedule.

I really should get out of here. It's bad for your brain...
