Vanderbilt announced a $300 million project Monday to improve football and basketball facilities and a new Vandy United Fund to raise money for athletics programs. The Vandy United Fund already has $200 million committed with $100 million from the university along with $90 million from anonymous donors and another $10 million from John R. Ingram, a member of the Board of Trust and lead owner of MLS' Nashville team.

Vandy knows they are falling way behind in the arms race of SEC athletics. Nothing other than better food and beverage facilities will the fan experience. Their stadium is a dump and an embarassment to the SEC.

Imagine spending $300M of donations and university money so you could make another teams fans have a more enjoyable experience at the ballpark.
Hell they’ll probably make note of it on the chamber of commerce flat screens when you fly into Nashville.

Hats off to Vandy. Marshalling that kind of support for their athletics is impressive. Also, I like that much of the money appears to be directly aimed at their athletes rather than just ticket holders. Unfortunately for them much/most of the sports entertainment dollars are sucked up by MTSU, the Titans and the Preds; not ignoring the I 40 traffic heading to Knoxville. Still, it's good for the SEC if all members keep facilities upgraded.

What a stupid comment. First, their facilities will never be close to UTs. If they did, in fantasy land, how would they be just like us? Look at football and basketball. The only sport they are decent at is baseball and if you notice we are rapidly closing that gap. Oh and of course women’s bowling.

We're 5-5 against Vanderbilt in football over the last 10 seasons. There used to be a HUGE gap between us and them in football. That gap disappeared quite a while ago.

lol. they're improving fan concessions yet fail to understand the problem is the stadium overall. The gates to get to your seats are at the bottom so with the vast majority of seats above you, you must stand in a long azz line to walk up 20-30-40 even 70 rows to your seats. And far be it you gotta go to the bathroom or purchase concessions at those new and improved concession stands. Between the walk down the one and only aisle to the bottom to stand in line for both bathrooms and food only to repeat the process going back up, you've just spent more than 3/4 of the quarter without watching a play. And all with a stadium where you have better view of the back of the persons head in front of you than the field because the stadium has no slant.

but maybe they'll add sushi and carrot sticks so everything will be worth it......

Knowing Vandy, a lot will be spent on building safe spaces, genger identity workshops, 24 hour emotional support staff, etc.

I am not a Vandy fan at all but you guys may wann take this seriously.

They get a nice stadium and facilities and serious about winning the they could become an up and comer over night.

Kids want a college experience and Vandy is in the heart of nashville where the recruiters can take them multiple places to show what living in nashville for a young man is like.
