In a way, it'd kind of be funny.
The conference is a mess. We were just celebrating the SEC blowing away the record for number of teams ranked in a poll two weeks ago.
And now?
Auburn has just flat-lined and just plummeted out of the polls, struggling against an FCS team before sitting now at 2-2.
Alabama struggled terribly against Ole Miss and lost.
Arkansas is now 1-3 after losing to Toledo and is unranked.
Tennessee is now 3-2 and unranked, losing to OU and a pretty bad UF...now apparently having an issue with closing out games and a struggling amount of passing production
Texas A&M just got by that awful Arkansas team, winning 28-21 in OT (Arkansas had to fumble on their own side of the field with almost 1:30 left in order for A&M to even get a chance to do that).
Mississippi State is unranked again.
Missouri while 3-1 has clearly been an offensive walking mess and just lost to Kentucky for the first time since joining the conference.
Not to mention:
Florida while 4-0 and having a good defense is unranked...and still has a great deal of offensive issues (that most likely will catch up with them).
Kentucky still lost to that same not great UF team.
And while LSU has a fantastic running game and serviceable defense, their passing game is also horrendous...which one has to question if/when that's going to become an issue again (like it did last year).
(And Vandy's defense deserves credit for taking a huge step this season, but they're still bad.)
And this is before we've really gotten that far into conference play.
And now the same Ole Miss team that got by Alabama squeezed by 27-16 against an awful Vanderbilt team...imagine instead having to have added to that list "and that same top 5 Ole Miss that just beat Alabama lost to Vandy"?...I think I'd just have to laugh, because I wouldn't really know another response there.
