Mason is a fool for not getting out when he had an opportunity. He was so sure he could be a powerhouse in Nashville. Hahaha

Meh, he's a "fool" who's $15 million richer than most of us (and I'm sure he'll get a sweet buyout in a year or two as well).

I don't think he's a great head coach, but he was given an opportunity to make a lot of money as one and was smart to take it. At some point, he'll go back to being a DC, but his net worth will be $10+ million higher than it would've been otherwise.

Mason is the perfect example of the “Peter Principle”. He’s a good defensive coordinator but he’s risen to his level of incompetence as a HC.

Have you followed Vandy for the last 40 years? I don't think it's all Mason. It's a place where elite players rarely go. And not a great stepping stone for a coach. Gerry Denardo (remember him) escaped and went on to LSU, but he Peter Principled in Baton Rouge. Franklin escaped and went on to better things, however jury still out if he Peter Principals out at Penn State.

They put on the Jumbotron during the Vandy game that it would take 43 victories (in a row) to catch UT in the W-L of the series. Dang, I'll be dead if they ever do that.

No one said the cat didn't have $$$, hell any coach in the league is filthy rich. My point was he had an opportunity to take other head jobs outside the SEC. Only a fool believes they can build a long term contender in Nashville. They are who we knew they were. Franklin knew he could not sustain in Nashville and looked to get out.
