James Franklin said on 3 hour lunch in Nashville that he got another HUGE commitment over the last few days? Who? Vandy seems to think they are taking over. Been discussed a lot and it gets old. But, with this happening today, what are your thoughts?

Vandy, the the words of Peyton, is and will always be the "idiot kicker" of our league. They just don't realize it yet this year

My thought is Vandy is still awful, and every team they've beaten has been an embarrassment.

To take a phrase from Dooley: "It is what it is."

To take a phrase from me: "Vandy sucks!"

Right in the Barn's back yard and they didn't even offer. Not impressed. Funny how the only ones that offered were Arkansas State, Duke, Memphis, South Alabama, Southern Miss, UAB and Western KY. Stanford is the only impressive school to offer him out of his entire list of interest. :zeitung_lesen:

We may have lost to Florida and lost Justin Hunter, but they will ALWAYS be Vanderbilt.

If a team like Boise State can rise from nothing and be consistently competitive there's no reason Vandy can't . They have top notch academics obviously and if they are willing to make exceptions for athletics , they can lure some high end players. It's very possible they could be heading toward something big. I'd much rather see them succeed than any other sec team.

Man I don't remember him saying that

Peyton said that about the Colts kicker who was running his mouth - Vandy runs their mouths when they shouldn't. But, I can see where you could get confused on that one. Need to re-phrase, don't I?

I agree we need atleast 1 Tennessee SEC team winning on Saturdays

The difference is that Boise State takes kids that are academically challenged, to put it charitably. Vandy wants to be the Stanford of the SEC. The problem is that the SEC is perennially more competitive than the PAC 12 and Vandy is not in a talent rich state.

You can't get into Vandy without the grades. They want to be harvard monday thru Friday and Alabama on Saturdays. Doesn't work that way.

Yeah. Tennessee. The homoerotic Vandy love from the fringes of the UT fan base is disturbing.

Question: Would you rather see Bammer and Auburn undefeated when they play each other at the end of the year, or see Vandy whoop them, UT whoop them, then have UT & Vandy undefeated when they meet in Nov? Just asking . . . .

They are all our competition. It is a false choice. I would rather see them all lose every game and be demoted to the FCS to be honest. I will never cheer for a rival unless it directly benefits the Vols. It isn't ok just because they are usually awful.

Don't misinterpret, I'm NOT on the Vandy band wagon. BUT, General (Captain at the time) Neyland was hired specifically to beat VANDERBILT. Believe it or not Vandy was a powerhouse in the old Southern Conference which was the predecessor to the SEC. The big dogs were Vandy, Sewanee, Bama, and eventually UT. I'd like to see them be competitive again. Let's face it, how much fun is it when you're pretty sure your going to beat the crap out of the them every year. It's more fun to me to have a good hard fought game on both sides (then win of course) than to have them quit once we get two or three scores up on them. Also, they're an embarassment to the SEC. I'd like to see them kick @ss when they play a decent team out of the conference. Again, just saying . . . . .

I'll defer to George Cafego's opinion. Screw those pricks.

Nice facts about the General.

It really is amazing that Sewanee at one time was in the SEC.

Vandy is winning now but when they end up 4 - 8, with wins over UConn, Ole Miss, Elon and Kentucky, then reality will set in for these supposed commitments. Once these committments visit other colleges and see how well the athletic department is compared to Vandy's highschool score board and super small stadium, I think some of them will decommitt.
If someone wanted to go to Vandy to get an education, then they will probably stay committed but if they value a good college football experience, then they will committ elsewhere.

That very well may be. But I don't have any bad blood for Vandy and would fine with seeing them do well as opposed to some Alabama, Florida, or Georgia team . Memphis is where I draw the line though . They're not TN in my book. It's like an alternate slum universe on the outskirts of an otherwise beautiful state. It's a shame too cause it was a gorgeous city in the 60s and back.
