Time to shut down the Kansas is Hopeless thread and assume the title.
It’s not untrue
So I shut it off in the 4th. But I’m reading the make a wish kid in Kansas caught the 2 point. The kid who played cello for the local church and never saw football was able to suit you for one game as his last wish and caught the winning catch snapping a streak dating back to W bush.
Fred Akers was ok......but you’re correctTexas might be worse than Tennessee at hiring coaches. They’re claiming only 3 really good/great coaches in their history Dana Bible, Darrell Royal & Mack Brown. Hell, I’d put Neyland, Wyatt, Dickey, Majors & Fulmer against that list. Fulmer & Mack Brown are a wash to me.
Fred Akers was ok......but you’re correct
Darrell Royal retired one year too early. They would have one the Natty with him and Mike Campbell (DC) Earl's senior year.I lived in Texas during Akers years. He inherited Earl Campbell from Darrell Royal. Earl was playing his sr year (and for NFL money) during Akers first season. I could win with a hungry Earl Campbell.
Akers is their Bill Battle. He took over a loaded boat & drove it down. Now the record looks good but in real life, he was bad.
