a lot of Tight Ends this year. They have 3 committed so far in 2013 class. And with their body style (6'5" or 6'6" and 230-260 lbs) they will be too slow to move out to WR positions or too small to move to the O line.

Is this a sign that Vandy is going to a NE Patriot style offense that features multiple TEs in its offensive sets?

I really have no idea what they plan to do with them, but I posted this back when Dooley was recruiting 1,000 TE's. It actually make sense to recruit a bunch of guys at 6'5", 240 who are athletic. Those types of players can play TE or DE. They can make plays on both sides.

As long as the players are comfortable with it, they will find the field somewhere. Those type of bodies with athleticism just don't grow on trees.

nope...just that their coach's penchant for "tight ends" discloses his preference for young male keesters.

I guess they just found several guys who like to play in front of the smallest crowd and most disinterested fanbase in the SEC. These guys are not interested in national press or going pro. They are not interested in living in a town that cares about their team.

They want to play for a team that beats their biggest rival about once every decade. These are probably not the guys we want anyways.

Most high schools really undervalue the ability of tight ends I feel, especially in a state like TN where football isn't year round. Most times your tight end has to be able to block the most athletic guys on the field (DE or tackle or OLB most times, and often try and get a corner or safety on sweep or outside plays.) On top of this they have to have the better hands on the team because most of the catches they should be making are across the middle in heavy traffic type situations. You give me a 5 star tight end and you take a 5 star wide receiver and I bet my team will benefit more all around than yours. Your WR may be drafted higher, might score more touchdowns (or might not, see Tony G. Dallas Clark. Witten. Etc), but I guarantee If I had to put the game on one guy's hands its the one who fights in the trenches and goes out wide and knows how to excel at both.
