All the journalist who are "reporting" that Vandy has passed Tennessee in football are a joke. There is nothing worse than piss poor journalism. Now i have to listen to all these mindless sports fans say "well... you know Vanderbilt is the new elite program in Tennessee.", like its their own da*n bright, original and informed idea. THEY PLAYED THE EASIEST SEC SCHEDULE THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN AND LUCKED UP ON THEIR BOWL GAME selection. Period. We will pass them in recruiting even this year, and will beat their Vandy a**es on the field next year and 19 out of 20 times in years to come like we always have.

And yes... I am mad.

For those of you wondering why it woould make me mad, it was actually a sarcastic pre response to the inevitable "you mad bro?" question. I am not really upset if it makes you feel better. You may now calm down.

If a sports writer said that Notre Dame deserved the NC trophy in spite of losing to 'Bama, that wouldn't make it true. It would be stupid.

The same can be said about this.

If UT played Vandy's schedule and won 9 games, you would not be calling us lucky, you'd be posting with enthusiasm that Tennessee football is back.

The reason behind all of the Vandy hoopla is because in the past, the University gave all of their resources towards academics. Then when David Williams took over, he decided to give more energy and resources to the athletics side of the house.

They hired an energetic new coach, who do not have a past record as a head coach.

Then they were allowed to have a real easy schedule for 2011, 2012 & 2013.

All of these factors create the idea that Vandy is on the rise. However; I predict that in 2014, Vandy's S.E.C. schedule will get much, much tougher. Franklin will not want to be around to have a losing season, so he will likely coach in 2013 and this time next season, he will at his new gig.

This is a stepping stone for him and when he sees that the easy schedule is going away, he will abandon ship.Kinda like Urban Crier did when Tebow had no more eligiblity remaining.....

This past year Vandy played Ole Miss & Aubun from the West. UT played Miss State (Which lost to Ole Miss) and Bama.

Next season, Vandy plays Ole Miss and aTm while UT plays Bama and Auburn. I wouldn't say UT's schedule is any more difficult than Vandy's.

I just have to say before i block you that you are my least favorite poster on this site. Have a nice life. Your arrogance is obvious and you need help.

Also, no i would not. I would say we did what we should have. Nothing more nothing less.

Vandy? Never heard of them

"Candy" is what he meant to say...it was a lip-synched song from 1986 performed by the same bunch that did 'Word Up'..

Candy......who saw them on tour at Starwood? It was BAAADDD!!

There's no denying that there's an energy and confidence about Vandy's program and among their players and fanbase that we haven't had in a while. Oh, what a difference a coach makes. Coming off two total duds, with a divided fanbase and a controversial new hire, we're a big question mark while Vandy has direction and stability.

Not whining bro. Defending this U of T that we love.

It is whining. So Vandy beat us in 2012. 6 other teams did as well.

UT had just come off an OT loss to Missouri for its 5th straight loss and played like they didn't give a crap. If the team didn't care, why do you (as a fan) care?

Before you get in to history, tradition, and all that stuff, those things have no bearing on what happens on the field for the 60 minutes of football. Go ask any 17-18 year old kid what their take on UT football is and you'll be shocked. They only know UT as being mediocre to sucking. They don't remember Manning playing. It's been a while.

This - last time I checked we played the same divisional foes as Vandy.

Don't see how you can call their SEC schedule soft and state that ours is that much more difficult - doesn't add up

Im glad you know MY intentions better than I do. Being so intelligent must be a great burden.
Also, why am i obligated to have the same attitude as the Dooley dead duck team?
And finally, i don't recall saying anything about losing to Vandy in 2012 particularly bothering me.

UT played LSU and Bama in 2011. Vandy played Ole Miss and Bama.

UT played Bama and Miss St this year. Vandy played Auburn and Ole Miss.

So, you're saying that playing LSU (who played for the national title last year), Bama x 2 (who won the national title both years) and Miss St is the equivalent of playing Ole Miss x 2 (last year they won 2 games), Bama and Auburn (this year they won zero SEC games)?

What color is the sky in your world? Good Lord.

So if UT had beaten Vandy would you have started this thread? NO.

So the whole reason you're mad stemmed from Vandy beating UT. So I would say it is certainly bothering you. Just using a logical progression.

The teams Vandy played from the West were not good. Vandy beat Ky, UT and Mizzou from the East. Not one team with a winning record other than a 7-6 Ole Miss and a 7-6 NC State team who UT even throttled.

Actually I would not be saying that anyone who had the following season is back or even a very good team.

Vandy beat: Presbyterian / UMass / Wake Forest in their non-conference schedule. They lost on the road to a good Northwestern team. League-wise the best game they played they lost -- South Carolina. UGA rolled them bad. UF beat them similar to us in Nashville. They squeaked by Mississippi and Auburn (worst team in school history?) at home. The did win a close game at Missouri on the road (not sure if Missouri had their starting QB). Beat a terrible KY team that got their coach fired. Beat an awful UT team most likely after their coach had been canned behind the scenes. They won essentially a home game against a bad ACC team that even UT beat.

Vandy can only play the teams on their schedule. But they are most likely one of the worst 9 win teams in SEC history.

And again, if anyone thinks that puts them ahead of UT's program.....then that person is kidding themselves.

I look forward to Vandy's trip to Neyland against a UT team that will actually have a coach who is willing to roll-up his sleeves and coach his team.

IF we had beaten Vandy and the same article had been written yes. Also, i made a special edit in my original post for those of you questioning my "madness".

Franklin got hurt midway through the 1st qtr of that game. Mizzou led 6-0 when he went out and Mizzou was moving the ball at will. Mizzou lost by 4 points and was in field goal range at the end of the game. Why a 4 point lead? Mizzou's punter let a snap sail through his hands that gave Vandy a safety. Otherwise, Mizzou would've had a chance to kick the game winner. Instead, they had to go for 6.

Vandy made some of their luck this year, but they were fortunate in games like the Mizzou game and drawing two of the easier teams from the West.

Where did I mention 2011? I mentioned 2012 & 2013 but not 2011.
