They always charge as much for the Tennessee game as for the rest of the season combined, regardless of demand (Georgia fills their stadium too). It is actually meant to reduce demand by Vols fans. The ticket prices are quite ridiculous right now but it's resells and it's a supply/demand thing. Their stadium is tiny so it makes the demand go up so prices go up.
Vandy increased the ticket price by $25 within 15 minutes of the end of the Bama game. They knew they could gouge Tennessee fans and make some extra money. Its really sad that they don't even try to improve the product and encourage their own fans to attend, they price gouge other SEC fan bases because they know other fan bases will pay it.
About 30 years ago Candy did a special ticket sale. $75 for the last 3 home games. My wife and I went to the Tennessee game (only one I wanted to see). I couldn't even give the other tickets away to the other games. Of course, there was no internet then but I did get to see Shuler play and Majors coach. Tennessee won no problem.
I am conflicted. I am unhappy with the increase, but I am also a constant and vocal defender of free market principles. In the 90's I used to get the $60 season ticket in the bleachers they used to have. Instead of sitting in those, we found out in the last row on the sidelines next to press box had no seat numbers and were meant for EMTs and police. We sat in those several years and no one ever made us move.About 30 years ago Candy did a special ticket sale. $75 for the last 3 home games.
