Vandy to the Big 11??

The Domino effect of this expansion could be catastrophic to the MWC. If they take a Big 12 team. Utah, BYU, or TCU would likely be the replacement.

I wouldn't worry about that... My immediate guess is the Big Ten takes somebody from the Big East.

And even then, is Boise State to the MWC still looking possible?

I wish we could swap Vandy for Clemson and let the ACC worry about finding a team if the Big 11 goes after Vandy. But Vandy would be pretty dumb to leave the SEC bowl and tv deals.

That may be the dumbest idea I've ever heard. A weaker BCS conference takes the worst team from the best BCS conference. The team the SEC would get as a replacement would be an upgrade over Vandy, further widening the gap between them and the Big Ten.

There's also talk the Big 10 might have an interest in Missouri. If that happened, I wonder if Arkansas might me tempted to join back up with all its old SWC mates in the Big 12?

Well if that happens then We could go after West Virginia...Would be a nice fit

I'd much prefer to snag an ACC team (Virginia Tech, anyone?) than a Big East team.

If the Big 10 takes Mizzou, I think TCU is the choice for the Big 12...although that'd make like...5 teams from Texas.

I think at least being located in the south east should be a requirement.
I'd most like to see Florida State or Georgia Tech join the SEC.

I heard yesterday that Missouri was the probable candidate, followed by Pittsburgh, Syracuse or Rutgers. I am sure it won't be Notre Dame.

Stewart Mandel wrote an article about this on Monday.

The only schools that will be considered will be those the the Big 10(11) feel can bring an average value of roughly 22 million per year, the amount that the schools currently receive as their split in their league revenue sharing. Otherwise, the schools will LOSE money by addign a 12th team. Conference titles games are nice - but in the grand scheme not that big of a revenue maker of the whole pie. I don't think Vandy or Iowa State fit that criteria.

I think you are looking at two schools - Syracuse (tap the NY market maybe) and of course, Notre Dame.

Notre Dame is the logical choice in a landslide. The big problem with them is their own TV deal with NBC being the sticking point. ND won't give that up anytime soon. I guess the Big Ten would then look to the Big East.

ND has already said they're not interested. And they won't be unless that NBC contract goes away.

Comcast could have some say in this.

This is somewhat speculative based on some things I have read, take it for what it's worth.

Comcast is currently in the process of buying NBC from G.E., and I have heard a rumor or two flying around that Comcast will take the Notre Dame games and put them on their own Versus network, which may soon be available only through Comcast, in order to increase subscriptions. I'm taking this with a huge grain of salt, but given how Comcast operates their business, I could see them pulling a move like that.

I could see Notre Dame breaking from the contract and joining Big Ten in order to keep exposure up through Big Ten Network. The obvious downside would be forfeiting their annual chance at a cakewalk to a BCS game. I don't think any group of boosters would want to give up having a ten times easier shot at a major bowl as everybody else in college ball.
