Wow, every one of those divided by 4 regions does not exceed 2. Maybe it is time for an official investigation into the selection committee.

p.s. thanks for your work.

Where was DUKE in all of these if you have the time.

Duke's final rankings:
AP Poll: 9 (down 2 from last week)
Coaches Poll: 10 (down 3 from last week)
KenPom: 12
Massey: 11
Torvik: 9
BPI: 11
Sagarin: 11
Sagarin Recent: 26 (lol)
NCAA NET: 12

If you want to laugh/cry even harder, here's where Wisconsin (you know, the top 3 seed) stands:
AP Poll: 14 (down 2 from last week)
Coaches Poll: 14 (down 2 from last week)
KenPom: 34
Massey: 20
Torvik: 28
BPI: 27
Sagarin: 20
Sagarin Recent: 27
NCAA NET: 24

So, Wisconsin got the #9 overall seed when they should've been looking at something in the mid 20s at best. The Big Ten favoritism was more vomit-inducing this year than usual.

IIRC Wisconsin tied for the regular season conference title with Illinois. Apparently regular season winners outweigh most other factors. Duke, Wisconsin and maybe even Auburn got a boost from the regular season title.

just me personally, I think a regular season championship should outweigh a tournament championship………..if your splitting hairs.

None of this should have been splitting hairs. Tennessee was/is above Wisc, Aub, and Duke at virtually everything.

Doesnt the conference tournament champ recieve the automatic bid? If A&M had won they would have been in the tournament.

Yet, Auburn loses in the quarterfinals (first game for them) in the SEC tournament and it has zero effect. I wanted to be in Greenville, and we should have been. Shame on those guys on the selection committee.

The selection process has declined from annoyingly flawed to now shamefully scandalous. When a team’s year-long maturation and ultimate on-court accomplishments get ignored, it leaves a smudge on March Madness. These elitist snobs who are constructing the bracket are out of touch with what the concept championship embodies.

You’re correct. It’s doesn’t make sense that the winner gets an automatic bid even if they weren’t going to make the tourney but a winner that would have gotten an at large bid doesn’t get a boost from winning.
The tournaments are established and run by the conferences. And the conferences choose their NCAAT automatic qualifier. They can choose not to have one and go with the regular season champ. They can choose to have one but still go with the regular season champ. Or they can do what they all do. Have one and have the winner be their rep. They obviously do that one to get a shot at an extra team in the NCAAT. The NCAA doesn’t care how they do it. They just take the name from the conference and pencil it in. And they seem to be making it clear they are using the regular season to set their seeding and pick the at large teams. So all the extra shenanigans beyond the regular season that the conferences want to use to get a rep, that’s irrelevant to the NCAA.

I’m not sure how much if this I made up - I don’t think too much if any.

Then I agree with Barnes that teams that are already in should skip the sec tourney to let the other teams play for a spot. Im sure he doesn’t like the fact that we denied A&M a spot without getting a benefit of a higher seed. I love the fact that we won but it should be worth more (not more than the regular season but more than they are clearly adding).

That’s unbelievable. I thought for sure Lunardi would be wrong. I thought for sure the committee would see our resume and say there’s no way we could be a 3 seed. Wow was I naive. Ultimately, I like our draw and we have to beat good teams to do what we’re going to do no matter what. Thanks to the committee we have motivation that Barnes can’t buy.

Then why Kentucky over us? Nothing I can come up with makes sense for UW, UK, Aub, or Duke to be above us.

and yet we're #10 consensus ranking by the expert committee. Is what it is, and possibly better shot thru 3 than if we were two somewhere else, but the tone deafness is crazy for us and a few others.
