Coach Fulmer spoke at a VASF breakfast this morning at 7:30, after the teams 6am run.

A few notes:

-Fulmer said that we underachieved at WR last year more than at any position since he has been in coaching. He said he thought the guys were working hard. He mentioned some of the younger guys like Briscoe and Taylor and also metioned Shelley.
-Swain may miss spring practice with a knee injury
-Very thin at tb in the spring with Coker, Hardesty and Foster all out. Williams and Yancey will get most of the carries in the spring and they will also give Ricardo Kemp a look.
-Talked about not signing a tb in this class. Fulmer wanted one but was a tough sell with the kids we already have here.
-He said he was really suprised that Rob Smith turned pro but wished him the best of luck
-He attribute a lot of our 90s success to the building of the Neyland-Thompson Sports Complex in 91. Facilities are very important.
-Thought C. Anderson underachieved last season but had the potential to be a great player
-He was happy with our defense last year but thought we gave up some late scores that we should not have aka SC and Vandy.
-Have a total of 1.5 games of starting experience at LB.
-Looks for Mathis and McCoy to have an impact
-Fulmer thinks the d-line can be better than last year (wow)
-likes the attitude of this team so far
-thought the fact that we signed 9-10 lineman hurt our overall rankings some
-talked a bit about the media and how they can talk to these recruits all week long and it can really hurt you. Also mentioned the internet and blogs and the effect that they can have today
-Fulmer does not like that we have Air Force between Cal and UF. The wishbone is tough to prepare for and with the blocking schemes your lineman tend to get beat up.
-At then end he also mentioned something about Dan Williams and V. Richard might get a look on the offensive side.
-Fulmer said that the goal this year, as every year, is to win the SEC

cool. Pretty standard stuff imo. but at least there's no "bad" news, o/t the TB injuries to deal with in the spring....hopefully that won't kill us later on down the line.

thanks for the update Freak.

He commented on both Ainge and Crompton. Nothing surprising though. He said something like Ainge has all the tools, etc., etc. and then talked about Crompton and his athletic ability. He also said that Crompton's shoulder was doing well so far.

Did Fulmer clap at the end of the meal? Did he talk about how, if a few biscuits and gravy had bounced the other way, he would have had a really healthy breakfast?

On a serious note, do any of our coaches participate in these 6 A.M. runs with the team? It seems doing that has built a special esprit de corps at places like SC, OU, and Miami. Coach Pearl also works out with his guys. I realize, and this is not my usual attack on Fulmer, that some of our staff are of an age and conditioning level that would preclude this. However, Taylor, Luke, and Roper should certainly still be in good enough shape to do the drills.

I will say that Fulmer looked better (to me at least) than he has in the past. But I don't know the answer to your question.

Are you sure he mentioned Vlad as a possible Olineman? That would really surprise me and you are the first I have seen report that. I have seen several post from people that were in attendance and they all had noted, but none of them mentioned that.

We have no proven depth at DT now that McDaniel left. Harrell and Turk are very good, but this is a very big spring for Bolden and Vlad to stwep up at DT.

Are you doubting ME? Just kidding. Yes I am sure. He mentioned that Williams and Richard would get a look at DL or OL.

Check your PM.
