According to Vegas, Michigan opens up as only a 2 point favorite for the game Friday. I'm not completely surprised, but was expecting 5 or 6 points.

I love it! Go Big Orange

It's the point spread they expect to have half the money placed on each side(when betting starts). Not sure respect is the correct word. But, GBOVFL!

Right, It has nothing to do with respect, it`s all about money. They could care less about the Vols or the Wolverines.

You gentlemen are both right that Vegas only cares about getting the money even on both sides. The point is that they feel that the bettors feel that the Vols are a tough enough challenge to only be 2 point dogs. That means that the Vols are getting respected.

Actually that's not a good scenario for them. The spread represents how they want to make the general public bet the game to maximize their winnings. Their computer models may tell them that it's actually one spread but they open the line elsewhere to entice betting on the square side. 10% juice on 50/50 betting doesn't cover expenses to keep the books open.

A simple google search answered my question and changed my perception.

Somebody said last night, when the line was said to 1.5, that Vegas knew "something." I would guess that this low spread might be to attract action for michigan...maybe.
