Meh. As long as Sumlin is in charge, A&M will have no ****s to give when it comes to defense.

TAM would be doing themselves a big favor dumping their current DC, I thought after Duke bowl game last year, I actually thought it might be the worse SEC defense ever. After yesterday, I am pretty convinced it might be still the worse, the D almost made Jennings look like an All-American running, the guy is not college material at all. If you can't defend Jennings, chances are you have a bad defense.

With that said, I think the personnel they have are actually fairly good, individually, but its very obvious they don't even know the basics of playing D, the schemes make no sense and guys don't know their responsibilities and I am not convinced they even know they have responsibilities. The stuff LSU was using against them should at max work once a game, nobody knew their assignments.

My take, they don't get a new DC, they'll probably see most offenses score 30-50 on them.... of course, if they are lucky enough to play against Jennings probably 20-30 points.

TAM did just dump their DC.. let the games begin....Muschamp for 1000 Alex..

He and they would be a good match. I wouldn't want to face a Sumlin offense and Muschamp defense. That said I would think Muschamp will like USC options better. Chance at quasi corch in waiting.

Unfortunately that dubious distinction belongs to us two years ago when we had Sunseri.

I have never seen a defense not knowing how to play assignments more than in the Duke Bowl game. Not sure why they didn't let the guy go then.... it wasn't a personnel problem... it was purely players that were never taught how to play. The 2012 team had players left over from the previous coach, very similar to the LSU having Crowton as OC for the NC year, left over players from Jimbo Fisher.

My other problem is, if you practice against TAM's offense all year, exactly how good can you become? Jennings is the worse starting QB in the SEC by a long shoot, he is not even close to SEC material... but against TAM he looked like he could do no wrong.

Absent another Johnny Football, I think the teams is going be a wild roller coaster ride in the SEC with little consistence. I actually think if you put TAM in just about any conference other than the SEC it would probably be the best team right now, with their style.

I actually like Sumlin very much, just not sure I like the style of play, basically unless they have perfect QB play its going to be pretty rough at times in the SEC. Hopefully, my comments are not taken as an attack on TAM, trust me LSU has their issues i.e. Quarterback.

LSU TAM stats
2012
TY 316 410
RY 219 134
PY 97 276

2013
TY 517 299
RY 324 75
PY 193 224

2014
TY 491 228
RY 384 84 (41 came on one run)
PY 107 144

I am not completely convinced TAM just has a defensive problem. Again, hopefully my comments do not seem like I am kicking a guy when he is down, I am just not convinced this type of philosophy is going to work in the SEC West long-term.
