I'm very impressed with Dooley and this staff for having 13 recruits including 3 OL, a couple of DT's and the QB that they wanted before the season has even started. Early on when we were stuck with just a couple of recruits and it was looking gloomy, this staff has been on fire as of late! And for the star gazers, a lot of these 3*** will more than likely end up 4**** not to mention they are really getting the position players we are in need of. Great job!

He's definately played a good first half so to speak. It's the on field play this season that will make up most of the second half though. I pray we put a 6-6 team on the field. I think top recruits could stomach that.

I've heard they will release the updated Rivals 300 (including some star bumps) sometime next week. Not 100% just relaying the information I have heard.

I think that a lot of our fans overhype the getting bumped up. Realistically it happens to very few players. The following players have a legitimate CHANCE of getting a bump:

1. Kerbyson: Got great exposure and was heavily reported as one of (if not the) best OL at FNL in Gainesville. The kid has an incredible offer list (better than some other OL rated higher than him). KK has a chance at getting that 4th star.

2. Tom Smith: Smith is as under-rated a back as I've seen in a while. Usually your skill position players, particularly from TX, CA, and FL are usually OVERrated if anything rather than a recruiting service erring on the side of caution. I feel like Smith has really had a good showing at several camps and is the "headline" player for one of the top schools in FL. The only thing that I believe hurt him coming into the process is that he was on a team which used a stable of RBs (I believe Apopka had three separate 1,000 rushers last year) and so his stats were somewhat caught in the blur. However, it appears his on the field performance has really impressed a lot of people, obviously our coaching staff being some of those people.

3. Juda Parker: The kid is a 2* on Rivals due mostly to the lack of evaluations they have been able to get on him. However, he has really shown out and teams/recruiting agencies have started to notice. Some dreamers out there think he'll see a bump to 4* which is out of the question. However, I do believe he gets bumped to 3* fairly easily.

4. Saulsberry: Currnetly not rated, I believe you will see Saulsberry get an initial 3* ranking on the new list.

5. Justin Coleman and Posey: These are your definite stretches. Both are rated at 5.7 (the highest possible ratiing for a 3*), but both seem to be missing some substantiation in the offer lists that may hold them back on the recruiting sites. I think both are very close to 4* talent, but I'm not sure they will actually end up getting that 4th star.

Those not getting a bump:

1. Worley: Currently rated as a 5.5 3* the kid would need a SIGNIFICANT bump to hit the 4* mark. The offer list was solid (yet questionable depending on who you ask as some offers were viewed to be non-commitable. I think he will see a bump to a 5.6 or 5.7, but I don't see him making the leap to the extra star.

2. All of our other recruits are solid, need-filling guys, but the chances of bumps for them is highly unlikely.

Just my input TIFWIW. Also, let me state I am satisfied with the class to this point I think the staff has identified needs, players that fill those needs, and signed them up. I think that if the current trend continues we may be backing ourselves into a corner talent wise, but I honestly think we will start seeing a pick-up in the 4* commits possibly beginning with Pat Martin, and then continuing on to those who he knows best.

Good break down. That's about what I was thinking too.

Football recruiting is about filling needs, not star worshipping.

Dooley is doing a very good job thus far of filling needs with solid players.

Parker, Smith, and Kerbyson are all studs. I don't care what they are rated by Rivals or any other site, these three will be difference makers at UT down the road.

Add the fact that these kids are committed to TN and the star bumps become even more unlikely, especially if they are unwavering in their commitment and thus, don't receive any more offers.

I agree with you all the way. Personally i dont care about them getting bumped up. We are filling in holes with good and possibly great players. Coach DD keep doing what you're doing! Lets put our trust in our coach and his decision making.

If a kid can play, he can play. The person across the line of scrimmage could care less if they were a 3, 4, or 5 star player.

Good post, but one thing to keep in mind is that this initial star bump is going to be based on summer camp performances alone. So taking that into consideration, I believe the only bumps we will see next week is Kerbyson to a 4 and Saulsberry to a high 3.

Posey, Randolph, Smith, Worley, ect will all have to have HUGE senior years and pick up some more momentum to have a chance at getting a bump in the final rankings Rivals will put out at the start of the next year.

I do think Smith will end up a 4, but he is likely the only other one besides Kerbyson.

But don't be suprised if our class doesn't have 7-10 4 stars in the end...if we can come out and compete this fall, we will have a really good class.

Just a few names to look out for Tuitt, Clear, Martin, Lateek, Richardson, Gabe, and Arnett are all 4 star players we should have a great shot to land.

If this is bump is off of camp performances alone, then Juda Parker will get bumped after he burnt it down in Blacksburg.

Good post, but Dont count Worley from getting a 4th star. He was one of the top performers at the Tuscaloosa Elite 11 QB camp. Here is what they had to say about him...

Justin Worley
PQB, 6-4/196, Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern
Very tall and very thin, Worley stood a head taller than most of the other participants in the camp. He looked good rolling to his right and delivering short and midrange passes with velocity and spin. For a tall quarterback though, he needs to improve the depth of his drops and work on the weight transfer while throwing the ball. If he adds some size and muscle mass to his lower body he could become a deadly pocket passer. Worley also proved he understood the importance of touch on his shorter passes and fade routes. Look for him to go to a school with an established quarterback so can learn and work on adding muscle mass.

That is really good praise and notice this was before he committed. Brent Hubbs also said that he has a good chance to get a bump to a 4* too. JMO...

I think many of our players will get a bump up. Just a gut feeling. We will see though.

Kerbyson should and will get bumped.

Juda Parker will get a bump to a 3* 5.6 or so and probably Saulsberry to a 3*.

Other than that maybe 1 guy that is a 3* will go to a 4* but I am skeptical. In fact some of the 3*'s might drop some. There are just too many other current 3* guys out there that have completely blown up over the summer.

What really impressed me about this coaching staff and the recruiting is the Kerbyson story. It gave us insight on how hard they are really working. Kerbyson, himself said that they fell behind ( could have been the coaching change and getting back on top of things) and then they pull all stops to not only get back in it with him, but to get him to commit. Give it up to'em boys!!:hi:

What is it with all the I dont care about players getting bumped or not posts? Who cares if you dont care...

It is still a topic relevant to recruiting that people like to discuss, speculate and talk about.

If this is bump is off of camp performances alone, then Juda Parker will get bumped after he burnt it down in Blacksburg.

I dont know that he was one of the top overall performers at the camp, but he did have one of the better camps among the "sleepers" that were there.

The Rivals guys have said he'll likely get a bump to a mid or high 3*.
