I don't know if it is because I like what he has to say or because he is repeating what I have been saying for a long time--and it looks like he is using some of my analysis! Perhaps he reads VN! Or perhaps maybe what many of us have been saying for a long time is now becoming obvious to all except those who really matter.....

Anyway, it is worth a read:

Amen, brother.

Those are the same points I've been screaming all season long.

"Fat and happy," just like the O-Line . . .

You gotta love that.

Let's get some new blood, new ideas, more discipline, and more excitement to go with all that damn NFL talent that graces the UT lockeroom every Saturday.

Oh, and let's get a special teams coach . . .

Climer said, "With the high payroll and unwavering job security, UT's assistant coaches tend to grow fat and happy — sort of like the Vols' offensive linemen."

I think he nails alot of our problems right there. Fulmer recruits the best talent and then goes fishing (or plays golf) with Thunder Thornton. When you make $2 mil a year, you want time to play with all the toys you can afford to buy. We've spoiled them all.

We have a better chance of making the National Championship than we do of seeing a new OC next year. It isn't going to happen. PF doesn't have what it would take to tell a guy "uproot your family, hand in your whistle and find another job." Especially considering the bond that the two of them have. We are wasting our time even discussing it. The people on this site and elsewhere with half a clue know what needs to happen, but unfortunately we don't call the shots and aren't willing to organize to point of making a collective effort.

Regardless.....GO VOLS! BEAT BAMA!

Climer nailed it! You are right too. Together maybe we can make a change. Time to forget our problems of the past, let's focus on a gameplan change for the future of our program. Start with communication on this forum. Let's go VN. :aggressive:

I agree with what Climer said 10000000000% BUT why are our "Star" players not taking the game into their own hands and winning???

I agree 100%. I do NOT see a change though and if changes are not made then we will fall into mediocrity and that is past time to make needed changes!

Frustrated is the word of the month!

He left out the part about Majors going like 0-5 starting off the season and needing to save his own job, hung out his assistants to dry and fired them. You see this a lot from coaches wanting to save their own skin, blame their assistants and fire them to take the heat off.

Not all the turnover was for assistants going to the NFL. I'm not saying he shouldn't have fired them, I'm just saying thats what happened. Maybe that played in to why a lot of guys left too, knowing if they didnt produce they would get canned, they opted for higher paying jobs in the NFL.

Because our star players are good, but so are Florida's, LSU's, and Georgia's.

Their star players seem to be more disciplined and well coached, and are put in better situations to use their individual talents to fit into a well devised team system.

Our guys are very good, but not good enough to overcome being outcoached.

I think it's another reason why Fulmer won't get rid of Sanders.Sanders is lucky as hell to have such a man be so loyal to his staff.Fulmer knows that if he gives Sanders the boot that more than likely no one will pick him up.

I agreee, but also until this year Sander's system has worked well, but now we dont have the right talent to fill the positions needed. I am not saying we are untalented, actually I believe all together we have enough talent on the field to beat USC or Texas anyday, but it is not being used to that potential.

Sanders will be able get a job elsewhere and will be fine. It may not be in the same capacity or at the same level but there is a job out there for him.
A great example is Matt Doherty. He could not handle the pressures of a storied tradition like unc. He was lifelong tarheel as a player and coach. He was fired but has no ill will toward unc or roy williams. He is now out of the limelight and coaching at Florida Atlantic.

I agree with all the coaching gripes, but did anyone else see this coming? I read an article on CnnSI that summed up the Vols in a nut shell....If you hype them up, as most sports writers did this summer, they let you down. If you ignore and under rate them, the surprise you. Like in 98 when we lost so many good players, it was the last time we ran the table. But you guys are right, they need to drill that discipline in the off-season and keep the coaches in the film rooms and not court rooms, we might singin a different tune this time next year. Although I am no where near giving up on this year yet! ND has some payback coming!

IT'S NOT THE PLAYERS, IT'S THE BLOCKING SCHEME. I GUESS THAT STATEMENT JUST GOES ABOVE EVERYONES HEAD.

Not here. Last year I said this and got lambasted. The coaching ignorance came slowly and the VN waited until it hit us in the face to recognize it. This fall began the day RS was hired!

No one in Knoxville besides Tony B has the stones to say or write something like that.
