I found these quoted from Coach Martin very interesting, he is not one that ia quick to give praise, but it sounds like he is starting to be pleased with what he is seeing.

"We're playing defense the way this program will be accustomed to playing defense. Kentucky has talented guys."

"If the season started today, we're just as good as anybody right now, as far as I'm concerned."

"Still some improvements that need to be made, obviously, but this team is "buying in.""We can be really good."


It really is unfortunate that this team didnt have a little more time with ccm before the year because if we could have those early year games back i think we definitely have about 4 more wins. We would be looking at a pretty good chance of being in the big dance again, and would be garnering the attention of people all over the nation of the coaching job he had done. Just a couple other quick points...

Jarnell Stokes & Renaldo Woolridge (there may have been more but i cant confirm that) were both in the gym practicing and getting shots up for about the last 2 or 3 hours. Dedication!

Stokes is in the gym all the time according to his twitter account. Kid is going to be a stud and I really think woolridge can do good things too.. The team is looking very bright. If we don't get into the dance we will almost be a sure fire lock for the NIT championship and it will jump us right into next season. I can't wait for the rest of this season and years to come under coach martin!

Would have to win the SEC tourny to get in. That would be tough to do, but Stokes makes it a possibility!

after the game. worth noting too stokes was in at 730 am getting up shots before the game as well. so in at 7 30 am shooting, getting first action at noon and back at it around 4 or 5 for a couple more hours. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

how fun would it be though in ccm first year to win the sec tourney and get the automatic berth, to me that would be enough right there to consider it a fairy tale ending to the year no matter what happened in the dance. with the way the sec tourney is going to be reseeded if we are able to beat the teams we should the rest of the way there is a possibility we could get a bye.

Calm down and breathe.

It's a possibility yes, but don't forget the losses we've had this year as well. We can be a very good team, just gotta be a little more consistent in a few positions.

Very good to hear. Swiper deserves much more success than he gets for his efforts as well. I am proud both are Vols but especially swiper since he will never get the accolades.

They all seem to be a little hit or miss. Golden did not play well today, but played great the last two games. The next game it might be Maymon who does not play well.

I am not going to count these guys out yet. They could have won today with a few breaks.

The conference is not that strong. If they continue to play hard I could see them going on a winning streak of 6 to 8 games which would give them an outside chance of getting in. It is not probable, but it is possible. My concern is whether they will win the games they are suppose to.

Think about some other teams who will be in the NIT... Our talent level will be way above all of them with the addition of stokes and the way Richardson is coming along. And the team will have great chemistry by then

He has that "I want to be a great player" mentality just like Tobias. He's also worked out with Tobias late night, early mornings. Tobias has been a great influence on Jarnell.

i really wish it would rub off on some of the other guys, especially mcrae he has all the ability in the world just missing that work ethic and fire.

I think he brings a good energy to the team. I think 5 to 8 min are appropriate for him

ccm has been very pleased with the way that woolridge has played in practice, and since day 1 ccm has said you will earn or lose your playing time in practice. i think in the next few weeks as stokes gets more time we will see 1. yemi's minutes gone and then 2. woolridge or tatum's minutes dissapear, one of them are going to get the minutes at the 3 it will be interesting to see who it will be, they may end up splitting time and ccm just riding the hot hand that night.

Well as long as this ignorant fanbase doesn't try to run him out of town he will have the Vols where we all want to see them!
