What if Burrows had stayed at OSU and played behind Haskins for a year..... Would he have been as prolific as Haskins was or Fields is today. I think yes, absolutely. I now totally understand why Burrows left. He was just to good to sit and meyer surely wasn't going to sit Haskins. He left there graciously and look at the results, so I think it was a good choice for both sides. Would Fields have transferred there if Burrow was still there? Absolutely no, and if it wasn't for his good buddy Haskins recommendation to learn under Day, probably wouldn't have. But it worked out well there also because of the perfect fit. Whose better, Fields or Burrow?.... I like Fields who has through the top talent, but from what I've seen Burrow is the better passer, with good footwork also, although not in Fields class. Boy, would that ever be a playoff game if those two met, and it's entirely possible. Don't see it though as LSU's defense is really suspect.

LSU fans are not happy about the D, but when you actually look at the numbers they are decent, just not great. What is bad is opponent 3rd down conversion rate, and even in long situations. Its really been a problem for two years now as LSU get very little pressure from its front.

DLine - average but lots of depth, they can almost go 3 deep.... but they are all kind of averagish... no QB pressure though
LBs - average... maybe below average as a group
Secondary - above average but literally the situations is worse than it was at the end last year - no or limited scholarship backups, a few injuries and LSU is back to playing walk-ons. Vincent is a liability and Stevens is more of a LB playing Safety.

Total defense #25
3rd down conversion D #38
4th down conversion D #20
Penalties per game #23
Redzone D #9
Team sacks #43 <- The problem especially in 3rd and long
Turnover margin #43

LSU is playing money ball right now, Redzone O (tied for #1) and Redzone D #9. Basically, if the D gets 3-4 stops, the game ends up a blow out.

They did start to get freshman Marcel Brooks into the game, he had a sack right away and had that hit on the QB at the waist-thigh level that was called a penalty.... they need to get him in the game as he has great speed.

The game is becoming about a few key stops now, its a pure offensive game at this point.

You are very interested in this topic . Isn’t this the second thread about Burrows/Fields OSU/LSU you’ve created?
