Vescovi to go through NBA draft evaluation process

He'll be back, IMHO. If he can do like Chris Lofton did and develop a dribble-drive game to go with his 3-point shooting, he will be hard to guard. It's the thing missing from his game that he needs. Michigan did a good job exploiting that gap in his game, IMHO.

Yeah the SEC leading 3 point shooter and 2nd most 3s ever in a season for a Vol sucks

He’s no Steph Curry that’s for sure. All it takes is one team with a decent defender to shut him down.

What a stat. I see a guy with a decent game every now and then, usually against inferior teams, and then being part of a 2-18 from the arc that sends us home. He can’t create his own shot. He is streaky at best. His ball handling is at best average. He offers no upside to any nba team.

Saying he’s a d3 player is ridiculous. I agree I doubt he has much of a future in the NBA but you’re greatly exaggerating

He has a decent game now and then but no way he’s anything close to nba material.

Unless he makes a huge (HUGE) leap next year, i think you are right. Anyone that watches even a little bit of NBA ball knows that the leap from college ball to that league is MASSIVE…they aren’t even in the same universe.

Vescovi is a good, but nowhere near dominant, college player. He is light years away from being drafted IMO…but I’m not a scout by any means.

I’ve been overly harsh before I’ll admit but I stand by him not being anywhere close to nba material.

I don't think there is any risk of Vescovi leaving early for the draft, so this is good advice. I do think some of our fans discount Vescovi as a player though. To say he is "nowhere near NBA material" seems a bit harsh. I think he certainly has a chance one day to make a roster.

I think it's telling that Barnes is encouraging him to go through the evaluation process.

Kind of "Don't hear it only from me but these are the things you need to work on." scenario in my opinion.

Maybe he can play in the Chinese league, just in china

He’s not a Steph Curry but he is similar to Seth Curry in college. Except Santi is bigger, better defender, rebounder, & passer than Seth was in college. In today’s NBA where outside shooting is at a premium he definitely has a chance to make a roster.

Really needs to work on finishing inside and creating off the dribble. He's actually not bad at getting past defenders from the perimeter, but once he gets by it always seems like he never knows what to do with it. Needs a good floater, ability to finish with either hand at the rim. He's a pretty good passer as is, but a better handle would help free up some different opportunities.

Glad he is doing that. No harm, likely will be back, but if not recruits will see that another person no one expected ended up on an NBA team due to his hard work and Rick Barnes coaching.
