Great film. My Grandfathers have started talking about their experiences in WWII and it is amazing stuff. One was a radioman and came across on D+2 and one was a bellygunner in a B-17. My step-grandfather flew the Hump during the war. Really amazing pieces of history that we are losing very quickly.

My uncle on my mother's side was in the Battle of the Bulge. I regret that we did not get to talk more before he passed.

A few months ago, I finally started talking to my grandpa about his Korean War experiences. He had an interesting story to tell me.

He was a 1LT, USMC throughout the war. He landed with the Marines at Inchon and he stayed with them through the whole Chosein mess, as an Infantry Platoon Leader. At one point, his Battalion CO wanted to get as many of the officers that had been on the line their whole tour, into REMF jobs, and replace them with new PLs. He was one of the lucky that were chosen. Well, the new guy, who had some long Polish name, is driven up in a Jeep. My grandpa packed his gear up, threw it on the back of the jeep, and climbed in right next to the driver. At that exact moment, a shot rang out. A sniper had fired on their position and hit the new PL. The wound required him to be evacuated to the rear, and well, my grandpa spent the rest of his tour on the line.
