Due to an unannounced medical condition, Red Bull Racing says Brian Vickers will not be in the 83 car at Dover.

Vickers was hospitalized to undergo tests and further evaluation.

Casey Mears will replace Vickers for the Dover race, in case you want to change your picks.

I saw this earlier. Hope everything is ok for Brian. Maybe this medical condition is the reason he's been so off this season.

I've already saw the rumors popping up on a couple of other forums and I hope they aren't true and Brian bounces back soon.

I'm not sure what you've saw, but there's a reliable person I've heard from that says he'll make a completely recovered and will be back in the car for the 600.

That said, anytime a driver misses a race it has to be serious. That just doesn't happen. I was even more surprised that it happened before the race weekend even began.

When you get sick is usually not planned.

Rumors abound from Aids to drug OD, don't place any stock in them.

I was just surprised they pulled the plug on him before the weekend even began. If anything, I would think Mears would practice and qualify and they would let Vickers start and get relieved for points. Leads me to believe that it has to be pretty serious.

I've dealt with clots before and they aren't very fun at all. Depends on the cause but if I had to lay money on it he won't be ready for the 600, I'm not a Dr thouh. Hope he has a speedy recovery.

My son had a clot in his lung, and it took several weeks to clear up. They finally put in a filter.

I had several that had broken off from the clot in my leg and went to my lungs and by the grace of God none of them went to my heart. They put the same filter in me. Hadn't had any problems with clotting since then. How old is your son?

Official announcement made; Vickers will not drive the remainder of the season. Casey Mears to drive in the All-Star and World 600. Apparently they are leaving it open as to who will drive thereafter.

I heard Mears is in for every race other than road course events. I wouldn't be surprised to see a plethora of different people behind the wheel, though.

Honestly I don't expect him back in the car next year, I think this is likely to end his racing career.

I just saw this, wonder who they have in mind? I can't think of a driver off the top of my head except maybe Labonte who might finally be tired of S&Ping with TRG.

I name these choices knowing that they can't get a big time free agent since it's only a 20 or so race deal.

Mike Skinner(If they don't fill a full-time driver he can race in the companion events with the truck series, he's already involved with RBR)

Reed Sorenson(Is with Braun and a Toyota team. Has some COT experience and is young and can fit the mold that RBR would want)

Dave Blaney(This sounds really stupid and out of left field, but I can see this happening. While at it, throw in his teammate McDowell)

Aric Almirola(I honestly think he would be the number 1 option, but it's obvious he has put all of his eggs into winning the truck championship.)

Cole Whitt(This would be incredibly stupid, but he is the driver they're attempting to groom for the future)
