Vick's Up The Creek

I was listening to some analysis of his situation this morning on talk radio. They basicly think he will get less then a year in jail as a first offender with a clean record. Get dropped by the falcons, and get picked up another team when he gets released from prison.

Not sure if any other team will want this sort of attention. Is it truly worth getting his talent knowing the baggage that comes with him? He's a repeat offender of sorts. He has no remorse for any of the negative things he's done and has no problem looking people in the eye and lying.

Yup- that's probably exactly what will happen. He wasn't doing the Dirty Birds much good anyway. Good riddance.

An interesting development. The speculation I had heard said that the feds probably wouldn't let the other guys plea bargain because they didn't want Vick to have to stand trial alone with all the other members of the conspiracy pointing the finger at him -- as that might tend to make him a sympathetic figure to a jury. Maybe these guys aren't plea bargaining as much as just pleading guilty in the face of an overwhelming case. Either way, Vick's situation looks bleaker as time goes on.

What an idiot. It would have been interesting to see what Petrino could have done with him.

I bet Petrino wishes he had his other bird back.
yep.......that's gotta be a big dose of reality........come coach mike vick and the falcons.........uh, er, how 'bout Joey Harrington and the falcons then?

probably not what he envisioned......maybe he'd pull a Nick Saban and come to TN next season..........:whistling:

Petrino will stay. They will suck this season, make trades to rebuild a better offense, get a high draft pick and take Brian Brohm 3rd overall.

I must confess that although I have no rational reason for it, I've drunk the Petrino Kool-Aid, as they say. He's been impressive in impossible circumstances. I fully expect him to have the Falcons turned around in just a few years, Vick or no Vick.

Exactly what impossible circumstances were those?

he already has a built in excuse for failure. vick getting arrested is the best thing that could happen to his career.

Since Petrino took over, the Falcons have lost a starting DE (Patrick Kerney) to free agency and a few other starters to injury (including Rod Coleman getting hurt falling off a jet ski). Jonathan Babineaux is being prosecuted for animal cruelty. Grady Jackson sued the team. Warrick Dunn's been hurt lately, so the best returning offensive players are now a tight end and a backup tailback. It would have been an ugly offseason even without the whole Vick debacle, and the Falcons are already a worse team than they were when Petrino took the job. And would be even if Vick were still in the lineup.

In spite of all that, I've liked what I've been reading about training camp. I've been impressed with what I've heard the players saying about him. This year is probably going to be brutual, no doubt, but I think he's going to have the team going in the right direction before long. I didn't particularly like him at Louisville, actually, but I've been impressed so far with what I've seen down here.

(As I said, it's irrational. Following a bad team will do that to you.)

I know the feeling. Every time I hear a positive report about Joey Harrington I feel the need to slap myself back into reality.
The Falcons will be back on track in two years... Petrino and Brohm will be reunited, and all will be right in Atlanta.
