What is the definition of victory in Iraq? With the Wh now saying it is an "acceptable level of violence" what does that mean? Where do events need to be in order for us to withdraw?

point well-taken, tid. :salute:

I believe victory for the Iraqi people is not possible in the immediate. Far far too many lives, futures and families have been destroyed by this senseless war. I believe victory for the U.S. is probably not possible either in the traditional sense. The best case scenario for our country, imo, would involve a non-publicized withdrawal time frame, with clear goals established for preparing the Iraqi govt. to stand on its own and protect itself in the aftermath of our occupation. The most meaningful victory of all for our nation, I pray, will be an enduring lesson learned from the gross mistakes made in rushing to conflict. Namely, in this case, that the philosophy of pre-emptive military action is not consistent with our nation's ideals - never has been, never should be. And oh yeah...fabricating intelligence for the sake of rallying support for military action isn't very smart. :birgits_giggle:
