I’d like to get some opinions. We spent millions of dollars on nice video boards. However, for the most part we only show “good” plays for UT. When I’m at the game I’d like to see some of the “bad” plays too. For instance, the scoop and score play in the Alabama game. I would have liked to seen a replay at the game to see exactly what happened, instead of waiting until I got home.
Just wondering how everyone else feels. Not trying to start an argument just wonder if people would prefer to only see “good” plays.

Only show stuff that helps the home team, imo.

On a turnover (or some other "bad" plays), it's sometimes beneficial to show the play so the fans know that we weren't screwed, or to show that we were, and have a chance to challenge.

I just wish it'd show stuff from other games occasionally.

Going to the Ravens games, they announce and show the scores "From around the NFL". And the crowd loves it. They really get into hearing the rivals losing in real time. It is a cool thing. I think that would be great in Neyland, much larger crowd and all.

I think they need to refub / paint Neyland... it's starting to show its age in places

Honestly the production is horrible since we first installed the larger Jumbotron a decade ago. No replays except for touchdowns and official reviews that look like they will go our way. This was before the hurry up offense as well so that isn’t the reason it’s happening. We used to show a replay of almost every play.

On top of that they do a horrible job of showing scores around the country and since the cell service is so bad you’re in the dark. They show scores maybe once per quarter on the ribbon between the decks. They used to be constantly showing them before they installed the newer LED one as well.

I've only been to one game at Neyland when I was young unfortunately never made it back but I always thought they showed every play on the jumbotrons. I agree with the OP about showing everything.

Yeah they definitely did. Up until the new Jumbotron in 2009 iirc.

They used to announce "here are some scores of interest" when a rival was playing or when a loss would benefit UT. Can't remember hearing that much anymore. Maybe because everyone has phones

I think you only should show bad plays that have a chance of getting overturned in our favor via challenge. I also think they should show updated scores on the video boards during timeouts more frequently.

Is there anyplace online where you can get the video played on the jumbotron during the game?

A lot of improvements could be made. More replays of good and bad plays. More updates of out-of-town scores, and not just the same 5 or 6 games. We don’t announce the visiting team’s starting lineup anymore; that started in the Butch era. Provide much of the same information fans would have if they were at home watching on TV.

I remember this, and I remember once when Neyland went crazy when they announced some score but can't remember what team it was or what game I was at

That was a fun time! Got to celebrate it with everybody in the stadium. (But also, we got to a point where it didn't really what anybody else did.)

In 98 I remember hearing it at one game as we were about to leave and the place went nuts. We knew we were going to #1

It's a holdover from the Dooley era Ive heard. They were afraid they'd have to keep the crowd in the stadium for hours after the game were completed if all the negative plays were shown. Thought fans might not stay.

Did anyone see the clip from the 1Q of the UF / LSU game where the jumbotron must have showed McGraths kick v Bama. The Swamp roared so loud it temporarily threw off AR-15 and both teams @ to run a play! Awesome.

Or decide whether to throw the mustard bottle, or save it for later. GBO!

That may have been it! I can still remember the anxiety of that year, wondering if running the table would be enough to get us into the title game

I agree with showing as many plays as possible to give everyone the best views on what just happened.
