I have my own thoughts on this, but how much do you think we are PR spinning things when not Kippy being hired is the UT news on the ESPN ticker...its all about recruiting and showing we have discipline with Vinson's dismissal is running on there all day long. UT has expectations and players will meet them. Think this is part of recruiting?

It's too bad you never realize what you have until it's gone. Not just in his case but for everything.

I think the hiring of Kippy Brown has more to do with recruiting for 3 reasons. First, he's a hell of a coach. Second, he has ties to the League and UT. Third, it quells the rumors about NCAA recruiting because why would a well respected coach of Kippy's caliper go to an institution that the NCAA is about to sanction.

Also, Vinson is an idiot.

vinson leaving will hurt our depth again next year and we dont have any depth at all in the secondary. who could come in and make plays right now besides our starters. a lot of potential with the db's but nobody second string or lower is ready to handle business right now

vinson could have played nickel, corner, or fs which i felt best suited his game. it would have been nice to be able to slide jj to ss next year.

you are fooling yourself. Vinson has not been focused enough on football to provide any help this year and there was about 1% chance of him helping next year. He was a negative influence on the team.

There is a story here. When an elite coaching staff has a player with a lot of physical talent and potential and he is not playing, 99.9% of the time it is because the kid is not handling his own responsibilities to give himself a chance. So anytime a kid isn't getting a chance, its because he is blowing his chance...

With the Public Relations spin on the news, I was saying how much do people think that putting out there another DB is gone and for discipline (sort of like Rubio not being able to drive CLK anymore)...putting out there public perception. For those mommas who think their baby would be going to a bad boy school, publicize your actions on discipline. I was not suggesting we disciplined for PR reasons. Just thought it was interesting to put that out there. Aside from the Chris Low blog, has anyone seen any national coverage of the Kippy Brown hire?

rarely much national coverage of assistant coaching hires. Assistants have been getting hired almost daily for the last couple weeks. Sometimes it is in the transaction space in the newspaper and sometimes it is not.

Illinois just hired a QB coach. Anyone know who? Hired a new OC a month ago?

Yep, but that just shows my time spent...Brohm and Petrino...do they have a 12 step program for college football?
