Where i live close to the VA border all i hear is people sayin how bad VT would beat us if they played against each other..I DONT THINK SO.....only reason they have a good record is cause their schedule is SOOOO EASY...what do u guys think?

Their schedule used to be so easy it's getting better now that they joined the ACC. When the big boys of the ACC all have good teams I would rank it just behind the SEC as the toughest conference. I think VT is in the softer division but still they get some tough games. I think it would be a good game, but I wouldn't want to see more than a home/away series. Niether team would want to have the other on their schedule year after year.

Miami and FSU are on a decline but I still think the ACC is pretty tough. I would give the Big Ten the nod as second toughest after
the SEC this year.

The top three SEC teams would crush the top 3 ACC teams. The Big Ten would do the same.

Who are the top 3 teams in the ACC this year?

Aside from VT, who has yet to play anyone worth a crap, none of them have looked impressive at all.

The Big Ten has years where it's not so great either. I think the ACC has the potential to field four or five top 25 teams every year. FSU, UM, VT, and BC or Clemson can beat anyone in one game their just not real consistent.

Last year, LSU killed Miami in the Peach Bowl. 40-3 was the score. I think that says all that needs to be said about the SEC vs. the ACC

I never said the ACC was better than the SEC. VT did the right thing by getting out of the Big East though, You have to admit year after year the ACC is more competitive than the Big East. Especialy when VT left it WV and UL weren't good yet. So that concludes my original point that VT doesn't have as easy a schedule as they did in the years that made them into a nationaly recognized program.

if marcus vick hadn't turned into such a thug, VT probably would have been the class act in the ACC this year.

lol, here we go.

now i'm just saying we were in that elite category going to the BCS and playing gor the sec most years. now we are middle of the road alot like miami and FSU. they still go to better bowls though. that is just a fact. look at the records and compare very very close. actually there records are probably better.

Champyvol. 81 posts, 1 thought. Since August 2006.

Actually, "Since 1 point loss to top 5 team" would be more accurate.

While I think SEC is the toughest football conference by far, I don't think it's fair to judge conference strength by picking one bowl game (LSU crushing Miami). By that measure, the Big East is better than the SEC (WV beating the SEC champ, GA).

Marcus Vick put the Hokies back a couple of years. Now they have to break in a new QB. They'll lose some games this year, possibly even before their schedule picks up this year.

Except when Tennessee plays an ACC team in the Peach Bowl. Anyone remember Clemson or Maryland?

According to CBSSportsline, VT has the 95th SOS (Strength of Schedule)...and we have the 2nd toughest in the nation...

Yeah, really sounds to me like Tech's schedule is getting tougher...what a joke!!!

Wanna bring Surreal out of the woodwork? Just post a topic about the Hokies. He loves them that much.

virginia tech always does this.. i'm from va and was brought up a uva diehard but now that this is my freshman year at ut i'm starting to shift over (good year to huh? since uva lost to w michigan lol) but every year va tech plays cupcakes at the beginning of their schedule and gets their rank way up and soon as the real schedule starts they drop.. No different this year when their first year quarterback begins playing in big games.. Don't forget what happened last year when miami went to blacksburg. The hokies got crushed!! way overrated
