on ESPN's pg 2 there is a long article about helmet research. VATech has assigned helmets a star rating for safety such as cars.

This research is great for reducing concussion injuries in football. It also made me wonder what helmets the team here at UT uses.

Virginia Tech research provides much-needed data, system for rating sports equipment - ESPN

FWIW, Stefan Duma (see the article linked) is from Memphis, TN (graduated with him from CBHS in 1990).. Good guy.

Oh.. .and he got his bachelor's from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

They use 4 or 5 different ones.

Schutt Air XP, Schutt DNAs, Riddell Evolution, Riddell Revolution Speed and then the throwback schutts too (air advantage) .

I've seen a lot of Adams helmets up there too.
