I was wondering how many Vol fans on this board are from Virginia? Or how people know Vol fans living in Virginia. It's always bothered me that we can't get University of Tennessee license plates in Va. You can get just about every college but UT. Here is what the Director of Alumni programs at UT had to say about it...

How sad is that? We can't get 300 people to order the tags. I know that we have more than 300 fans in Virginia. So if you're one of them or if you know anyone, post here or let people know..

Thanks for the sympathy oklavol, I can always count on you.

We have UF, FSU, Michigan, Nebraska, UVA, VT, UNC, Wake Forest and the list goes on and on, but we don't have UT. That's a crime as far as I'm concerned.

It's the same situation in North Carolina. You can only get plates with these schools. At only $25 extra, you'd think there'd be more than enough Volunteers to meet the minimum of 300 (like the play on words there? :shades:). I'd be willing to head up efforts to find people willing to buy one, but given that I'll only be living in NC for another year or so, I'll probably be gone before they would be available.

Me and my parents have been wondering the same question. My dad had been asking some people in Richmond about getting some UT plates. I myself would like a Tennessee license plate on my car instead of that stupid butterfly.lol

You asked how sad is that? :dunno:

why dont you just put a vanity plate on the front of your car, or a "T" decal on your rear windshield.

I already have a T on my back windshield. I guess I could put a T tag on the front, but in Virginia you're required to have a license plate on the front and the back. So I don't really like the idea of having 2 tags on the front of my car.

All these specialty plates are a menace anyway. It just makes it harder on the police. We need to go back to one size fits all.

That's not my problem.

So how is a power T and four numbers/letters harder for the cops to identify than seven numbers/letters?

I'd like to get a UT plate in Florida next month, but they don't have them either. :(

I'm almost positive that I've seen UT NC plates before. Strange.

I'm a Tennessee grad and fan who lives in Virginia. My friend, who is a Virginian, has the National Championship plates, but he has Tennessee plates, at least until he gets caught driving.

Sorry, accidental post. I misread the the topic title. I thought it said VIRGIN VOLS instead of Virginia Vols and I was curious to who signed up.

My best friend Grandpa Vol lives in Manassas, and TennFan lives in Virginia too. I wonder if the problem with the license plates is the conference area. We can get any SEC plate here, and Memphis plates, but others are pretty scarce. Just a thought. One thing I have noticed is that the number and letter size is always the same, as not to make it such a problem to read for law enforcement. I mean, they have education, enviornmental, musical and at least a dozen other choices besides choice of colleges.

Well, if your'e lucky, maybe some members of the "Original Posse" will be from Virgina. Then when they turn 16 in a couple of years you should have enough to meet your quota.

Who knows OWB, maybe you can get 300 people here on the VN. Write up some sort of petition for them to sign up on, and once you have the 300 names and addresses, send it back to that nice lady here at UT and ask her to get the ball rolling.

Lord knows you have plenty of time on your hands to do this, all you do is sit around all day. :biggrin2:
