Hey everyone,

So this is my first post on the forum and I was wondering if some of you lovely Vols fans can help me out. I will be making my first trip to Tennessee ever the weekend of the Florida game (I'm going to be traveling between Charlotte and Nashville for work) and I am looking for a ticket to the game. By way of background, I'm a UCLA fan, but I absolutely hate the Gators with a fiery passion. I would love to get the opportunity to meet some awesome fans, root for the Vols and see my first SEC game in person.

And it goes without saying, I would be happy to pay over asking for the ticket (I know it is a hot commodity).

Thanks very much for reading and look forward to hearing from you all.

Happy hunting...a lot will depend on our performance this weekend.

Check out the "Knoxville Restaurants" and the "Hiking Thread" for good suggestions on the area.

Hope you enjoy your stay!

Ah, the Tennessee - UCLA transcontinental connection... Among the games between these two, 1994 is not a fond memory for me. 'Twas the game in the Rose Bowl during which Peyton Manning made his debut as a Volunteer.

I had accepted the invitation of a Georgia chapter of UT alumni to watch the game at a bar in Sandy Springs. The game was not televised locally over the airways or on cable, so, in order to view it, one had to go to an establishment with augmented access.

As the evening wore on, it became apparent that an increasing number of guests were arriving expecting to dance to loud music. Watching the game, the plethora of UTK alums were interfering with the expected entertainment of the regulars.

At one point nearing the end of the game, I was standing at the bar with two other alums. We were turned sideways to see the television nearest us. A besotted fellow pushed his way up to the bar beside me and began to lean against my back. I turned my head to the side and asked him to give me some space. He muttered that he just wanted a drink, then pressed his groin against my backside. I shrugged him back, stating firmly, "Get off me, man!" Too drunk to remain upright, he crumpled to the floor.

As I turned my head back towards my fellow alums, I took the full brunt of a blow to the face. A huge, fat, drunken redneck deputy sheriff from a nearby county had come to the bar itching for a fight. Seeing the besotted one crumple to the floor, he had rushed across the floor, throwing the full force of his 350+ lbs into a sucker punch which caught me blind. Having struck me, he proceeded to put me in a choke hold until bouncers managed to wrestle him off of me.

It turned out that the bar was in jeopardy of losing its liability insurance because of fights occurring on its premises. Management hired off-duty local police as security. The local cops elected not to change the off-duty deputy sheriff, despite the testimony of others present. I was ordered to leave and had to get another patron to summon the EMTs (local cops declined).

In the end, I had to have my eye orbit surgically reconstructed (my eye socket now contains material developed for use in space) and a chipped tooth cosmetically repaired with faux dental material. My legal counsel informed me that it was most unlikely that my pursuit of remedy would be fruitful. My only consolation was the bar's closure some months later when their liability insurer declined to renew and no other provider would offer coverage.

Oh, and the Vols lost to UCLA, 23 - 25... Tennessee went 7-4 that year and defeated VT 45-23 in the Gator Bowl.

You will enjoy the game more if you get a orange jersey with #16 on it to wear at the game.

dude, I would have gone to court and let the judge decide, after I fired the lawyer that told me that legal action would be fruitless.
