I'll tell you. I'm really liking this. Not only do I not want Nuke Richardsons & screw ups on the team, but let's take a step back & think about this:
Most all players that are being recruited by us are talking about how the Vols are pitching & lauding their character. That they think they can help us on & off the field. Sounds corny at first glance, like, "Who wants character...I want a freak athlete!" Let's step back & remember that these guys often grow up in not the best environments, but are respected, admired, & appreciated only for athleticism; they're like the hot girls on Beauty & the Geek...only known for their looks. And then, when some guy comes along & starts appreciating them for their brains, they get all flustered & emotional, but in a good way. They appreciate this new aspect of their being that is being noticed. It's like they're no longer 1 dimensional, they now have more to offer!
Compare Vols vs. other SEC teams. Other SEC teams: "you're a great athlete. We think you can help us, & we can help you, & we want you to be a part of it." Vols: "You're looking to be a great athlete & a great man. You can be an ambassador to the game in Knoxville, as you've proved so far that you can stay out of trouble & take care of business. We think we can help you continue on that path, & you can shine on the gridiron. You can help us, & we can help you, & we want you to be a part of it."
I like our pitch!
