Often times a Florida high school football coach spends as much time coaching as he does with recruiting. It’s certainly a nice problem to have sometimes however. The coach will undoubtedly have some talent to use on the field in their conquest for a state title. Also remember it gives them a chance to talk [...]

Anyway he doesnt end up at UF, if & when they offer?

I agree. I don't think he would want to go to Florida and compete with Jeff Driskel when he has plenty other options.

UF will offer before or during FNL but I'm not really sure Meyer is sold on the kid. IMO he's higher on Randall but Scot Loeffler loves this kid. Another thing that may come into play with his recruitment is the development of Burton and how Kevin Sousa(Lake Nona HS) camps/plays this season. IMO who ever ends up with Ely will get a very good talent and a proven winner(think Jay Barker,Greg McElroy, Tee Martin) ....if the kid was 6'2, he would have the"world" at his door steps.

Yeah HG is right, if Ely was 6'2 or bigger he'd be a top 3 guy this year or better. He knows how to lead a team and is clutch, highly under rated prospect, even if UF offers, I think he knows he's good enough to play somewhere and may not look to backup Driskell.

Even if you take away the "history" with UF and Plant I don't believe he really likes UF system....he may like Meyer and UF but not the offense. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he's a gator. IMO he'll be a SEC starter in two years once he gets some weight/muscle on his frame. Kid has great footwork and can make all the throws.

I know we like Worley but this guy sounds like he has a lot of upside. Nothing wrong with a proven winner as your leader in the huddle. But then again playing with Wilder and handing him the ball has to have some advantages...

Things may heat up between UF and Ely now that Jerrard Randall has committed to Ducks. Thats three of the Gators Top 4 targets off the board.

Only thing that scares me about the article is when the head coach talks about Wilder Jr. wanting to play with Ely if possible. As HialeahGator stated things are heating up between UF and Ely...Wouldn't be surprised if both ended up Gators..Hopefully not though.

Sousa more than likely will choose between Vandy, Wake Forest, and Northwestern. If Florida wants in, they better hurry with an offer, I bet he chooses by the end of the month.

I dunno, I believe Sousa is about to start getting major offers rolling in. His camp & 7 on 7 performances have been on par with Driskels
