So has he cleared all the academic/admission hurdles?

Brown is one of the most important guys in the '10 class for the '10 season. DT is an immediate and pressing need, and it sounds like he has the tools to be an immediate contributor.

Physical tools were never his problem. Aside from his noted struggles to stay academically eligible, his work ethic and attitude is what Tennessee will have to rectify to make him a consistent contributor.

Coming off a 2007 season where the defensive tackle position was a huge point of weakness in the Florida defense and both starters either graduated or no longer played the position. Playing time was as wide open as it could be and Brown put forth such a sorry effort that he was forced to practice with the walk-ons instead of the team as punishment and DL coach McCarney told the media he wasn't going to be included in the depth chart. After that series of events he broke his wrist and he left Florida having never played a down of football.

I have had to part way with young employee's before and I know that from that experience they sometimes became a better person (learning as they go). Sometimes you have to break both legs to realize how much you cared about walking. Hopefully we have a kid who's ready to prove he's changed.

from JB

John is doing great in his classes according to him and that he is on track to be here first of June. Grades shouldn't be an issue at all.

i believe swampy is correct about his work ethic at UF. several UF trolls have mentioned it, at least. i would think that he is eager to make the best of the short time he has left, though.

I think he can make the rotation but believe that Walls and Hughes are both going to be special players.

CUM probably told him he could play WR during recruitment but then 'changed his mind' when he got on campus
