Thanks for the update freak. Any insight as to why we're recruiting him as a defensive player instead of the OL?

According to Matt, Kilgo stated that Coach O thinks he could be a really good DT with the potential he has to grow.

I agree he could play well on either side... it's just that our biggest need is the OL. Maybe that's an indication that the staff thinks they already have some good prospects (soon to becommitments) for offense. Or, as you said, CEO's assessment is that he just has more potential as a DLM. The Scouts evaluation wasn't too favorable relative to his blocking skills.

When speaking with Kilgo he stated Tennessee's offer was at DT and most other schools were looking at him as an OG/OT.

Could he move over to OL when if he commits? Sure, but he said Coach O loves him at DL.

If Coach O loved him so much we wouldn't be slow playing him. This guy has already tried to commit once and we didn't accept it. We have several higher ranked DL that are real possibilities and we will only take probably 3 more DL. This kid is OL all the way though. He certainly doesn't fit our scheme on defense. My guess is that we have OL that we like better than Kilgo. I just don't think there is a fit for him here unless we miss on some guys we like better.

So you think Kilgo is a contingency? Not wanting to put words in your mouth, but if so the approach makes sense.

He almost certainly is. And I doubt our recruiting gets to the point where it becomes necessary to take him. OL and DL recruiting both are going well and we have many guys who are very real possibilities that fit our schemes better.
