Talk about the ideas posted in the "Post your ideas for Health Care/Insurance Reform...." in this thread.
So when a doctor cuts off the wrong leg, the patient shouldn't be able to sue for damages?
A la carte pricing- as a single male non-smoker, I shouldn't have to pay for maternity services, well-baby care, smoking cessation treatment, and so on. If you can customize a package for car insurance, you should be able to do the same for your medical insurance.
Flexible spending accounts - deal with doctors on a cash basis. The funds in these accounts should never expire and can be withdrawn, with a penalty, for non-medical use.
in addition to malpractice reform, institute a "loser-pays" system
extend the period of time pharmaceutical companies hold on to exclusive patents. one reason some medications are so expensive now is because the companies have to recoup the expense of research and development.
Some people take Healthcare for granted and just don't care where they go. If we have a ratings system, it would make the doctors more accountable and give the patients reviews to read and make a better choice on a doctor. As far as if that actually happens, that would be something to amend to the idea, so give an option if that happens.
Here's an idea
why don't we lock the rep/dems in a room and say "we pay your salaries to do a job, and that job is to do whats best for the American citizens. The health care system isn't currently working because people with insurance are getting screwed and people without insurance need health insurance
so....
Republicans stop saying NO to everything and do your frikkin job
and
Democrats stop being so hard headed and be more willing to compromise.
I'm beginning to wonder if i should just vote independent. The Bush administration was filled with lies, fear tactics, horrible decisions.. many many many horrible decisions, and a bunch of politicians that got rich from haliburton, and the manipulation of the housing industry. AND this administration wants to spend, spend, spend, and change, change, change no matter if the people want it or not.
The government for the last decade is literally driving me :crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy:
Our founding fathers would be disappointing if they could saw the crap we've had to put up with the last 10yrs thats for sure

Why the hell are you so hellbent on the government stepping in and making health care reek of failure like they have with SS, Medicare, Education, and Welfare?? The federal government's track record sucks with things like this LG. I don't understand it, it's like you want them in your life.1) Public option.
or
2) Combined approach of a) Put kids on private health insurance of parents up to age 20; Between 20 and 40 allow purchase of insurance with high deductibles, but promotes wellness and checkups; c) Expand Medicare to Age 40, with higher FICA to pay for it.
