The Tennessee baseball team got the Dave Serrano era off to a strong start, downing Western Carolina, 6-3, on a beautiful fall evening at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Friday.

First of many under the Serrano regime. How appropriate it came against Todd Raleigh's former team.

I don't know how we won. Serrano doesn't even have a college degree. What a gyp.

I kid, I kid. I really hope we're in for a lot of good fortune and upswing in the baseball program. We need it.

Went to the game and I am very excited! We will still lack talent this year, but we are going to play a very exciting brand of baseball! Lots of hustle...lots of bunting...lots of running. We will put pressure on opposing teams. The future is very bright!

I enjoyed the game. I liked what I saw. Good offense, as far as aggressive base running.

But, Western Carolina is not very good, at least pitching wise. They walked a lot of batters, lots of wild pitches and hit at least 2 batters.

went to the game and enjoyed it. interesting note was that wes walker started behind the plate over ethan bennet. anyone know what is up with that? I thought ethan would be a sure thing at that slot for the year. also noticed that in the field, we were better fundamentally, with players actually moving on every play and backing each other up, etc. good things are in the works for this program.

It's amazing what a little coaching will do....

It was a really exciting game and fun to watch. I can't wait for the spring now! Also, there are still season tickets available. Get in now while you can.

One more thing... Steckenrider looked like the best player on the team. Serrano even mentioned him and how much he has progressed. Here's his batting stats:2-for-4, 2 RBIs, 2 R and pitching stats: 2.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 K, 1 BB.

I know it's only Western Carolina but on the highlights you can sense a much more excited and enthusiastic team than what we have seen the past 4 years.
