Give Randy Sanders a break - he'll figure things out. I like some of the things I see him doing.

I don't think it's Sanders who is killing the offense...you've heard it before...Phil just tells him he can run any play he wants as long as it's North and South and between the tackles. Sanders was a quarterback...surely he would much prefer to throw the ball, but alas, he'll never have free reign to do what he wants. This game toaday with Bama was a perfect example of UT playing not to lose. Execution killed several drives tonight...the players have absolutely no chemistry and really couldn't care less if they win or not (or that's how it seems). I really think it's team motivation, lack of chemistry and leadership that has caused the demise of UT the past several years.

You have GOT to be kidding. Did you WATCH the game? Players who couldn't care less don't fight for 5 freakin' overtimes and come out victorious. I will agree that this team isn't as good as we think they are or want them to be. But after watching them play their hearts out tonight, your comment comes across as a little
uninformed. But that's just my opinion which is worth what you paid for it - nothing.

:p :D  :)

I would agree w/ KnoxKDX for most of the game, but at crunch time, they layed it on the line. Seems like it took a little adversity to rally the troops. Way to go D for playing so huge tonight. That goal line stand was amazing and they played very well in critical situations most of the time despite giving up some big yards at other times.

Well...I certainly didn't mean to offend you with that comment. My point is that we should have never been in an overtime situation with a 2 and 5 Alabama team with a one armed QB and a 1st year head coach. Don't you think that it's odd UT has been in 2 of the 3 longest OT games in NCAA history? If UT is in the top 10 for recruiting every year, shouldn't they consistently finish in the top 10 and be able to cruise thru most of the schedule? The fact is that even though Fulmer has one of the highest winning %'s, his coaching-to-not-lose philosophy and unwillingness to pull the trigger and play lights out is costing them MANY of these games. When players start getting used to losing or playing at a lathargic tempo, that becomes the norm. After watching some of the games from the early 90's on CSS with Schuler and company the past few days, there is no comparison to the UT of today...something is amiss in Big Orange Country. But you're right...all wins are good...nice win tonight.

Hey, I like Randy Sanders. I even know his in-laws, but the fact of the matter is that Tennessee's rushing yardage and points scored have dropped consistantly every year he's been the OC. Yeah, other teams in the SEC have gotten stronger, but you have to come up with an offensive package that will win you the ballgame and you have to get your players to execute on the field. It's his job. And Fulmer needs to get Randy to do it or find someone who can.

There is no doubt that the rushing and other offensive stats have declined since 98. While I agree that Sanders doesn't have full control of the offense, I don't think he was qualified to be the offensive coordinator of a top 10 program to begin with. I am not sure how much of it is playcalling and how much of it is philosophy. How come we can look so good when we absolutely have to? This staff has shown this year that if the game is very close or we are ahead then we are not taking any chances, but when we HAVE to move the ball we can. I think that explains why every game this year has been close (except for Georgia). Our offensive staff has lost that "killer instinct". We are playing not to lose in those situations.
