Whenever I see the Vol Navy coming up the river by Neyland Drive on football game days I think it is the neatest thing. All those boats docking in. Anyone ever participate in this pregame ritual?

I was in the Vol Navy for the UAB game last year.

2 separate friends had boats there. I stayed with one Friday night down by the Landing and another on Saturday night at Calhoun's.

In short - it was a blast. Everyone is very friendly and there's quite a bit of boat hopping. On occassion, there is some drinking too :blush2:

I've been in the Vol Navy twice...several years ago. It was a TOTAL blast. Anyone who can needs to do it....at least once.

I'm pretty sure kiddiedoc does it for the games. Just PM him and I'm sure you can ride along! :p (kidding)

I worked at Calhouns for a couple of years and have spent a lot of time out there. Great fun! When we had back-to-back games, many of the people would just stay and live on their boats for a week or two.

I always wanted to load up my canoe with beer and do the Vol Navy in it as a lark. Kicking it on the spartan tip. None of my friends or wife would ever agree to go along. Kill-joys.

Actually, have not taken the new o+w'er down yet. I almost did once last fall, but I heard a horror story or two about getting your boat beaten up and decided that I needed another year of driving practice first.

And, NO, the "posse" isn't invited.
