Vol practice report - FootballTime.com

Saw this posted by Ballin Vol in another thread I thought it was worthy of a new thread.

CBJ looks extremely constipated in the pic though.

The Highlights are look forward to seeing Lane and Neal together in the backfield.

QB depth chart is Dobbs, Ferguson, Peterman, then Worley

Our offensive line is soft.

Josh Smith is now taking reps with the second team.

The team spent alot of time running Tennessee Tough drills.

Favorite CBJ quote

Everybody wants to win until they’re hit in the mouth.”—Jones to the whole team during “Tennessee Tough” drills

Thanks BallVollin for the link in the other thread.

“Come on Fulton, you’re the biggest soft guy I’ve ever seen.” —Jones to Vol senior guard Zach Fulton during drills

“We’ve got a new nickname for the offensive line. Everyone wanted to crown them as the best, we’re club 90 because that’s how many rushing yards we had last week. Welcome to the club.”

“Give me Sanders (a true freshman offensive lineman from Cleveland, TN) and that soft guy from Knoxville (CAK graduate and true freshman Brett Kendrick). Cleveland soft, Knoxville soft. Tennessee’s finest.”—Jones as he called for the two to face-off in a “Tennessee Tough” matchup

“Come on Marlin, come on Marlin. We’re working on a trade with Bethune Cookman…Marlin is allergic to the weight room. He had a bigger neck in high school.”—Jones implying Lane belongs at an FCS school

“Football rewards those in great condition.”

“Come on scout team, earn the right to run through the T.”
ouch.

We ready to hand another Alabama team their largest margin of defeat this year. (Just look at poor S. Alabama's schedule and you'll see what I mean.)

When Dooley did it, VolNation accused him of throwing the players under the bus.

He didn't do it until the press conference after the game when all the players weren't listening.

Butch has it blasting all around campus, but has his team's back when it counts.

A little different.

I think the get tougher mentality should have started in the off season. Cranked up after the Oregon game. Taken to over drive after the Alabama game. And tatooed to their ass this week. If they come out soft against Auburn then you have to question more than their toughness. Maybe just maybe they are as tough as they are ever going to get. Lord knows i would have had to power drive my foot in Dooleys ass to go through his practices for three years.

There is a difference in Butch calling them out in practice and Dooley placing blame and calling them out in press conferences while simultaneously deflecting blame away from himself. Nice try though.

Any direct quotes relating to all the players that Dooley called out in press conferences? I remember some lineman that he thought wasn't really injured, but I don't remember the other players. Who were they? Who specifically did he call out?

If you don't remember what he did to Cody Pope, then you must have selective amnesia.

Exactly! And Dooley would not be calling his out team for having 90 rushing yards.

There would be a celebration!

Dooley did it to the media

Jones is doing it to their face, then building them up in the media

Big difference IMO
Please list all of the individual players that he called out in the media. I remember him being negative about the team as a whole, but a lot of coaches do that.

I never played for a coach that didn't call us out at practice. Especially after a poor showing. This is nothing new. Let a member of the media or someone else try to call out these players and Butch will have their back. Hell... He even had Josh Smith's back at the Monday presser but has him running with the seconds per this report at practice. Butch is a good coach and great motivator.:peace2:
