what do you think of your secondary and your pass rush?

[i saw the lsu game]

Secondary is good, they're a little off and on, but are very capable of making big plays.

Pass rush is terrible.

Our secondary is Jeckyl and Hyde. Hefney is a pretty Free Safety and Wade is a good corner who is sometimes spectacular and sometimes gets lost. Our SS play has been spotty at best.

Our d-line pass rush is a problem area due to depth. I wouldn't be surprised to see us junk up the defense a little bit to help them out.

Racking my brain here, and not finding anything... but I don't think the DLine has a sack in the last two games. :ermm:

The last one I honestly remember was McBride taking down Wilson near the end of the Alabama game.

But still, I think the stat is that only one team this season has thrown for over 200 yards on them.

That's pretty incredible, but thinking back, you're right. We've given up some big plays, but LSU is really the only team that has eaten up our secondary with big stats.

Florida and SC got yards, but we did OK against them.

Just to throw this in...our QB's have only been sacked a total of 6 times this year.

Remember those key sacks we got against Florida? That seems like 100 years ago.

Our QB's haven't been sacked much more than that. Pass protection has been good and it helps that we run a lot of quick stuff.

Tennessee and Arkansas are both good in this category, but I think that Tennessee is better. You all run the ball a lot, we pass a lot.

We junked it up pretty good on defense against LSU, I thought. We ran a lot of different blitzes, jumped around in our coverages, bracketed Doucet some, as much I've seen.

I hope they put 13 in the box against ARK.

LSU picked on our secondary/OLB mix on some of their screens and stuff. Other than that, they've played pretty well most of the year (but not as great as CPF seems to think).

Didn't Bolden get one last game or was that just a big tackle for loss?

Im wonderin...if #39 Karl would be a better pass rushing underweight DE than a LB???

We were all over the QB against LSU, we just couldn't bring him down:BANGHEAD2: .

Sort of like a Will Overstreet.

Ryan is quite good as a LB, Chavis gives him the chance to go make something happen and Ryan usually does. Even at LB, in a Chavis defense, he's in the backfield frequently.

Karl is good. NFL good? I dunno, but he's one of those kids with a nose for the game...

Yeah Bolden did have a sack last week. For a second i thought it was Justin Harrell out there. He got a great push on that play.

Why would you insult Ryan Karl by mentioning him in the same sentence with Wil Overrated?

Our secondary is ok, I think Morley and Hefney did pretty good job, and Morley just have some more work to do. Two corners, overall pretty good, but I just can't not forget those big plays they gave up. But think about it, two corners are gonna graduate next year, are we gonna have corners better than these two? I doubt it.

Defensive line pass rushing, did not make a lot of play since the very first game. Even though they did get the quarterback and about to make the huge play, they messed it up. Mapu roughed Leak, our TD turned to be their 15 yards gain, and 1st down. That hurts.

Secondary is very talented...plays awesome and then makes one mistake to even it all out. Ex: 2nd half TD against USC and both the LSU TD's...Hefney and
Wade always play good...Stewart still makes me extremely nervous though.

The way I see it...Our defensive football team is a mixed bag. When we make a good rush on the Qb, our secondary does a good job of defending the pass. When we play the flex or mustang or nickel or dime and do not get a good rush on the Qb, we get picked apart in the secondary.
